Excuse my stupidity, but can you use a, say for example, a Rigid LED wiring harness to wire a set of PIAA HID lights?

Connections at the ends will most likely be different, but other than that, wire is wire. So just cut a splice where needed and you'll be set.

No a bad idea. What lights did you go with? Might get those for snow recovery. Did you have to get a strobe relay?

Nice set up. There isn't a lot of high speed stuff to kick up dist around here so don't have to worry about that too much. I'll look into those relays though. I need to learn to wire too lol

Is there any reason more people don't make bolt together roof racks? Definitely on the budget side of things

You sir just gave us a great idea. We've been considering making roof racks for anyone interested after we build mine.

We'll have to see as we're building mine what can be bolted. My boyfriend and I were just spit balling and his big concern is after its been bolted on you'd have open ends in your tubing. So we'll have to put some thought into it and whatnot.

I've been considering making one out of say 11 GA. (.120 thick) steel sheet and 11 GA. (.120 wall) A513 rectangular steel tube. The sheet would be cut:
    (2) 84" x 1.5"
    (2) 42" x 1.5"
and welded together to make a frame.
The rectangular steel tube would be cut into:
    (6 to 8) 2" x 1.5 " x 42"
and used for cross bars. I'd then use corner braces to secure the tube to the frame. I'd have to pay someone to weld the frame together and weld feet on it but that's nothing too serious. It would look very boxy too.

    That was step one.

I broke one of the rules and put sliders and skids. I should have only done bumpers. However, I did get a non-full replacement bumper so that I could look good but maintain my "just picked the kids up after a day of shopping" look.

Got another lightbar in the works and a snorkel before I lock it

I want something low profile and nice to look at. So here's the design. The only thing not in the design is the cross bars for the rtt to sit on.
