possible extended warranty?

    i am interested in getting an extended warranty on my tacoma, i am at 55000 miles and would like to get a warranty, my parents want me to get a new vehicle, but with all the work i have put into MY truck, id like to keep it and just have another warranty...

    is there any way to do this? has anyone done this?

    I was told when I bought my truck that I can buy the extended warranty any time, as long as the factory warranty hasn't expired yet.

    Edit:
    But I'm in Canada, so the rules might be different south of the border

    If you want a Toyota Extended Warranty I think you have to purchase before the 3 year/36K is up. I don't hear many good things about those other warranties I see advertised.

    Did it with another vehicle, all this does is make you do required maintenance. If you do not do say a 60,000 mile trans service and the trans goes at 66,000 you are out of luck warranty void

    This is precisely the reason I sold my Discovery (this and the 12-14 mpg). I couldn't afford to continue to the maintenance done and keep it under warranty, and noone wants to pay to fix a LR out of warranty. And they break.

    A lot.
