Helper leaf = lift??

    I bought a used 04 that needs new shocks. The truck came with helper leafs installed and so sits higher (i know...). Should I get a set of rear shocks with stock specs or for lifted (eg Bilstein 5100 for 1" lift). I initially assumed yes but thought I check and couldn't find an answer searching the forums. Thanks

    You could go either way. If you keep the rear wheels on the ground (meaning you don't wheel), then the stock shock will be fine. If you want a better quality shock, then go for the Billy or OME (Old Man Emu).

    Even with the rear tires hanging, I don't imagine helper springs would lengthen downward travel. All they do it resist compression of the original spring pack. They won't make it hyper-extend.

    OP I'd say get replacements for stock height. Bilstein 5100's are still a good bet.

    The Bilstein site says the 5100s are for 1-1.5" lifted vehicles
