Tuckers are badass. I love the older ones. The only think I don't like about them is that the rollers for a lot of the older models are smoked now and need to be replaced, but they don't make them any more.

Where I grew up, you'd see that a lot also. $30k in sleds being towed by a $2k POS on it's last leg.

Those are cool but I have to believe that's a great way to absolutely smoke your front end and steering components.

 

Time for some Yankee ingenuity, to the machine shop!

 

Not to mention you can buy a good, used track-truck for what those AD Bovin kits go for. Makes no sense.

I want to see if I can find an old VW beetle and convert the rear wheels to tracks and the front wheels to skis. GF says I already have too many vehicles, though.

 

Easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

 

Well, she wants to take a road trip with one of her girl friends in the spring, so when she gets back there might be a VW beetle in the yard with the rear suspension torn apart, lol.

 

How 'bout a VW bus...

 

Nope.
I want tracks on the rear and skis on the front to keep it (fairly) simple, and the sedan would be lighter than the bus so it would work better for that setup.
Plus the sedans are really common still, so I'd be more likely to find one cheaply.

 

This guy's got a good start on the concept.

 

Not a bad start. I'd go for a lower profile track to keep it lower and lighter, though. Probably shorter too, but not a lot shorter.
