Sand in the tank, headlights, or electrical issues, the saga continues for the 4th time? (10/9/18)

Man... you must be really desperate..!! Holy shit ..."go to a Ford"..!!

 

Came from a Ford. 2 of them actually. No significant issues, families run for for over 40 years, and to this day, nothing significant.

I know not a popular choice around here, but I bought my last 2 fords used with 150k+ miles, and both are still on the road today lol

 

Right where they died, eh...?? hehehe Just kiddin' man... Glad you had good luck with them... I did not and 1 was a freakin' Lincoln Town car... nothing but repairs after repairs...!

I went Jap and am not going back to GM or Ford.

I only went through half the 50+ pages so sorry if this was already brought up, but since the issue persists... Do you know what the codes are it is throwing after you reset the battery the last time? Do you have an aftermarket intake or air filter? Are you getting any smoke when it sputters? If so, what color?

 

No Smoke, the codes are any combination of cyl 1-6 injector circuit codes. usually 1,2,3,4.

No aftermarket engine/intake mods. Only the aftermarket plug and play lights. no splicing, no cutting etc.

 

When installing the passenger side ballast for the HID did you remove anything from the airbox assembly? Any chance anything got loose over there and possibly getting the MAF wet when cleaning? I know Im grasping at straws here, but I feel for you on the problem. I would be out of patience.

The dealer trying to directly blame the lights seems like a stretch unless a wire/s were inadvertently stripped or exposed when installing the lights.

 

Nope, no need to disassemble anything.

Anyways, I checked the filter, intake, throttle body, etc. It's definitely a computer error, as after the truck is turned off, the electronic throttle body motor that operates the butterfly valve whines loudly. I have the unplug it to get it to stop. Basically it sounds like it's trying to move but is already as far as it can go.

It also just throws random codes. Sometimes a TPS codes, other times injector circuits, other times no code

 

No alterations, splices, etc to any factory wiring

 

Well, after 13 days, multiple unanswered calls and 2 unanswered voice messages, I went into the dealer today. (I'm nightshift, I SHOULD of been sleeping.)

My Advisor has been out sick, so apparently that means NO ONE follows up with his customers?


Absolute shit if you ask me. Apparently the Technition had my truck in the stall and was on the phone with the Toyo Field Specialist. I was promised a call back this afternoon, and got nothing.


4 page single spaced complaint has been sent in to Toyota Corp. This is outrageous. I am 700 deep into a rental car as of today. Absolutely dogshit service and shotty work.

 

What dealer? I am in Sacramento area and would like to avoid the place you took your taco to

 

Momentum of Fairfield. For now on, after this incident, I will be going to Vacaville. Only issue is the length of drive for the shuttle folks... I am literally 5 mins from the Fairfield Dealer.

 

In my complaint I did mention that I would pursue lemon law (not really applicable, the wording is difficult, but it states it has to be warranty repairs... non of this has been under warranty). I also stated that I would start to pursue a lawyer, but would rather not due to my upcoming deployment to the Middle East (gotta go f*ck up Taliban!) and that I am requesting either my truck gets fixed the right way officially, or I would like to start a buy back or a trade.

Finally, if none of the above I want my lease terminated and all extra costs I have fronted repaid.

Fat chance. Little lonesome me against Corporate Toyota... No match.

 

Well. 14 days. They called me back, 2 days later than they promised. Left a message as I was just getting off work (can't walk and tslk on a phone in uniform ) after a 14 hr night shift. I tried to call back twice, no answers so I drove in. They asked me a bunch of accusatory questions on what happened(most of them I already answered 14 days ago...)

Ive been up for 21 hours straight. I'm tired, sore, hungry and pissed. But, I'm uniform so I have to keep my composure.

I turned the heat up a bit and explained this is the third time and im losing faith in their service, such as telling me sand dissolves, and then going to the lights, and now this. I asked about buy backs as l no longer trust the truck and there's obviously an issue. She told me there isnt any options as none of this was manufacturer defect and its something in doing.

Way to support your customer and product Toyota.


I'm exhausted with this process, I've now spent over 2500 on rental vehicles due to this truck, and this current one is approaching 1k. I've made 3 truck payments with no truck to show for it, the other 9 I atleast had it in my garage.

I've quite literally never experienced such blatent lack of concern for the customer, lack of support, and accusatory behavior from a company before.. I've received better service from Comcast...

I'm a patient person but this y is over the top, I'm being bullied by Toyota.

Anyone know any lawyers that handle cases like this, or anyone willing to atleast write a letter to try and bolster this.

I dont think my expectations are too high... I just want a truck I can drive, and not worry about it breaking down.

Well. It's 18 days now...Getting close to or over 1k in rental fees, and I've heard from Toyota twice, each time I've had to walk in and demand conversation... and they've beat around the bush, offered no answers/support They always tell me "we will call you later today" and I end up calling them 2 days later, or driving in. The last time this happened, it was Wednesday... it's now Monday and still no call back, even though I've left messages.


When asking about options, I was basically laughed at, and told "there's no proof of manufacturer defect" and that I cant terminate my lease, or pursue buy back options. I was also told that it's pretty much my fault, and they are standing firm on the initial diagnosis of Sand in the tank the first time, lights the second time (with dust found in the tank) and now who knows what the third.. Same symptoms, same events, same presentation.

There is zero customer service from this dealer, any bay area CA folks, steer clear from Momentum Toyota.


In fact, I submitted a complaint to Toyota Corp, and have yet to hear back from them, and it's been 5 or more days.... With the last...4... claims I had responses, by phone, within 2 business days.

 

As many of us suggested the first time... get an attorney. You don't have much in the way of alternatives. Well, unless your truck were to take a tragic ghost ride off a cliff

 

I'm still mulling over how sand got into a sealed system gas tank on a truck thats supposed to go in sand/dirt/mud. That needs some explaining...... from Toyota!
