    I prefer street cred, bro.

I'd go OR cause some are getting them for 34K, I don't think Pro's will ever be much under 40k. Cool, yes, but it's a lot of money for a little truck that can't tow anything. But I have a bro SR that my dad bought me, so what do I know.

OR to Pro is significantly more than 4k difference. More like 7k+. Can get near invoice price on OR and opt out of options. Pros go for MSRP+.

Are there any forums on here that share where people are getting there trucks from at the best prices. I honestly feel like I'm getting dogged around at the local place near my house. I couldn't get anywhere near 34k for anow off road with no options.

Haverhill is too small a town (mother in law was a Prescott House resident for a few years)

You need to do your shopping in a larger market. Let your fingers do the walking via in the internet.

Spec out what you want, send emails to all the dealers within 100 miles and see if there isn't some competition out there. Don't worry about not buying local. That dealer will still be responsible for honoring warranty work if needed.

Drive both ... price both ... depreciate both ... figure resale of both (with and w/o mods) ... what you really want ratio .... then pull the trigger ... you can't go wrong with either one ... :)

Get some good pricing too ...

The only reason I would buy a pro is for the cement color, other than that my black OR is perfect

Hyperbole much? Percentage-wise you'll be into the TRD OR a lot less up front. You pay a HUGE surcharge for a Pro. Percentage-wise and once all dollars and cents shake out, you're not going to get rich off of selling a ten-year-old TRD PRO vs. a TRD OR.

Not to say resale value isn't important but it's all relative. Tacomas in general do hold there resale better than say a Colorado. However, when I was looking for a truck, I had a dealership offer over 7K off sticker for a Colorado without much negotiating. So yea the resale down the road compared to sticker may not be good but the real world price paid and resale isn't that far off from a Tacoma in my opinion. So in the end buy what you want at a fair price and don't let resale be your biggest determing factor. You're not buying an investment property.

Oh!!! So we are throwing logic out the window?! Ok cool. What if he adds a unicorn farts air freshener? Or a leprechaun keychain? Oh!!! How about a banana flavored steering wheel? Would that add value?

After he does the lift and stuff to an off-road. "Percentage-wise" it will be the same. So why not buy the one that will be worth more and already has the stuff done? You talk about money upfront... um... 99% of America finances vehicles. 99% chance an off road with the stuff he wants will be MORE cash up front. Not less.

But what do I know... I am no smitty....

The TRD PRO offers literally ZERO functionality over what the TRD OR offers. Maybe you missed that part? ZERO yet you're going to pay upwards of $7k+ for the PRO badge? If you want to piss away money on zero capability upgrade fine. The TRD OR will take him anywhere he wants to go and he'll have THOUSANDS $$$$ leftover to actually ADD capability if he wants.

Well. as I've stated before. the truck will likely see 8-10 good years with me, the way I run my vehicles. Resale in the end will likely be marginal at best. I may throw that banana steering wheel on though. lol

Just my .02. If I had no intention of ever modifying my truck, I'd go with the Pro. That said I intended to mod my truck and the extra price for some plastic badges wasn't worth it to me.

So the only difference between a pro and an off road is a badge? Oh man... if I only knew...

Most people will lie about what they paid but this thread shows what people are reporting. The consensus that I have seen is that if you pay around MSRP out the door you did ok. MY MSRP was $40k negotiated it to $36k but after taxes, title, dealer fee, extended warranty, and all that BS it brings it right back to $40k

Fox Suspension is the only *notable difference* but offers no real improved functionality. The rest is cosmetic. BTW for the mark-up you pay on the fox suspension alone you could have bought Icon or Kings.
