    Hey Gang,

Finally getting an armored rear bumper and will be adding LEDs. Would like some guidance.

    1. Anything sub $100 flush mount worth looking at? Rigid and Baja are pricey, justifiably ( have Baja Pro fronts) but just looking at good quality flush mounts for the rear. If not, guess Ill bite the bullet and get the Baja flush mounts.

    2. Are most wiring up to reverse lights or on a separate, independent switch?

Thinking the latter for night time trailer hitch fun but interested in feedback on what works and what doesn't. Also don't want to blind folks while backing up but damn these weak back up lights are terrible.

    3. What pattern? Flood or combo best back there.

    Thanks
    TA

These are what i'm running. I've got them mounted to the underside of the bumper on each side where 2 panels come together. They aren't "flush" mount, but they don't stick down far enough to ever worry about hitting them unless I mean to.

I went with flood pattern because you don't need the distance of a spot, and it is possible(since its so close) that a spot wouldn't light up enough area to be usefull.

Wiring them into your reverse lights should work just fine, or into your reverse for your trailer lights.

For wiring, the best is to hook them up to a SPDT switch, or On-Off-On. Then you can choose to have them come on with reverse lights, not at all, or by themselves.

These are the ones im running and there pretty good. I used a fuse tap and installed a backup switch then ran the power through the firewall grommet and zip tied to the brake lines till the rear bumper, for a ground I just used a ring terminal to the frame.

Any photos of the light on the trucks, more light for backing up, hooking up the trailer and light to see shit on the trailer if needed will be in my future. Awesome to see the different methods and options.

Hey bcrobbin, I have the "Better Bed Lights" to see into my bed, trailer or "scene lighting" on the sides on the bed (camp ground, etc). Downside is I cant see behind me with the tail gate up, mainly for bed lights and side lighting. Pics below, they are on the roof line of the cab and can be manipulated up/down/side to side

Like you, would love to see other options with embedded lights in the rear bumper.

Did you get this done OP? Backing up with tinted windows isn't too exciting...

Not yet Adam and I agree; backing up sucks. Anywhere. Forget offroading, tight parking lots are also exciting at times.

I chose the Rigid D2 Diffused flush mount and will mount them up soon and will mount them with SPDT, above. Bumper just shipped. Will show pics and report back with results.

    Too many to list
Using 2- 18w 4" under the bumper and a 20" led bar in the camper shell. Both eBay brands and work great. Just added a relay off the factory reverse wire.
