how do i fit 33's

Alright, i have an 06 tacoma and i currently have bilstein 5100 lift shocks set at 2.5" with stock coils. i am riding on some 31's as of now. but i really want to fit 33's. what can i do to lift my front end more to clear 33's. keep in mind i want to keep the lift shocks. i just want something to add to it if thats possible with stock coils.

But seriously change the thread title. Don't name the thread "HELP!!!" if it's just the typical "How do I fit 33"s".

 

More lift isn't the answer. Install the tires, see where you rub. Trim accordingly. Likely modifications include: mud flap removal, trimming plastic inside your fender, cab mount chop, and flattening the pinch weld.

How you use your truck will determine how much Of the above you'll need. If you wheel, probably
Need all of it. Pavement only, you might get away with only pulling the mud flaps.

I dont know if i could turn my tires at all with 33's. i am fitting 31's perfect and they are like 10.50 i want 33x12.50

 

These trucks don't accommodate bigger tires well. A 255/85/16 would probably fit OK, but that is like 10" wide, 33" tall. The size you are suggesting won't fit.

 

With no additional lift?

 

They'll fit, if you're willing to do the work to make them fit. The bigger you go, the More you have to do. With a tire that wide, your wheel backspacing is going to become important.

As mentioned, a 255/85/16 or 255/80/17 would Require less modification to fit. While still 33" tall, it's roughly 2" narrower.

Decide what you want. Install. Make them fit.

Lift doesn't matter. The location of the tire in the well at full compression (on the bump stop) is the same with zero lift as it is at 3" lift.

 

Run the size mentioned here. No trimming, stock wheels, 33" tires - BOOM. I love mine.

 

I love my tall and skinnies. I need to get a spare though...

 

I ran 255/85/16's on TRD OR wheels with zero rub issues. On pavement and off.

As mentioned, you'll have to get the correct BS to accomplish this.

Any wider and you'll most likely be chopping your cab mount to not rub. More lift isn't going to help.

Same here. Except I had a little bit of inner tire rubbing the UCA. Added 1/2" spacers. Rubbing gone.

That's right. I had LR UCA when I put the 255's on already. Forgot about that.

 

Come for a visit. I'll give you a spare. I have 11 tires, all on wheels. A couple are below 30% tread, great for a spare.

 

Yes, with the lift you already have, but read the other posts concerning this tire size. There are many things that can have subtle effects. You may need to remove the mud flaps and flatten the pinch weld. You may need a sight wheel spacer. The offset and width of the wheel you use may effect things. The lift you supposedly have may not be correct either! Just saying you have 2" of lift doesn't mean anything. To know what you really have, you have to measure it. At the very least, you need the hub to fender well measurement or something similar. I measure from the bottom rim of the wheel, because that is a good place to catch the tape measure. Mine are 31.25" on the driver side, and 31.00 on the passenger side. They are both 31 with me in the truck. That should be 2.75" of lift. That setting gives me 1.625" of rebound travel and 3.375" of compression travel. One more thing, the caster you run can effect the clearance in the rear of the fender well. More castor = less clearance. I'm running 3.0 caster. Don't do something stupid like running a low caster angle just to fit a tire though! Lots of people run this tire size successfully, but we all have to make little adjustments for our individual trucks. All these variables are why you hear conflicting reports. If you go wider or taller though, you will be entering the ice cream headache zone.

IMO, the 255/85/16 LR-E is the best tire there is for the Tacoma. If you want a slightly smaller version that can run on a stock truck (31" tall), the 235/85/16 LR-E is also really good.

Walk into the tire shop and say I'd like to purchase those 33's... then hand them money.... that's what I did. Only removed mudflaps
