I recently picked up my 2010 Tacoma 4x4, 4dr, LB truck from the dealer and I love it! Awesome truck! When I picked it up they didn't have my floor mats, so I had to go back today to get the mats. I asked about setting the door locks to lock when the truck is put in gear and unlock when put back in park. (like my 2 previous 4 Runners) They said they would have service take care of it for me and that it would take a few minutes. Well... 1 hour later:confused:, I am told by the Tech that the new 2010 models can not be scanned like the previous models to change... So at this time he didn't know how to change it.

Can anyone tell me how to do this myself? They did say that this is something they would normally charge for, but since I had got 2 vehicles from them within the last 2 months (Bought my wife an FJ for Xmas) they would not charge me to do it. But of course they don't know how to at this point. The Tech did say he would get it figured out and contact me to come back in and have it done. I would rather just do it myself if it is possible... Thanks in advance!

Nothing to know. It does not exist unless you get the Toyota alarm system RS3200 or something like that.
My 2009 Camry has the auto lock feature like your 4Runner did and instructions on settings are in the owners manual.
Mt 2010 PreRunner has no such instructions.

I actually miss that feature from my Sierra. Gives you peace of mind driving through the city that some a$$hole won't open your door and mug you in case you forget to lock it.

I have a 2010 TRD Sport Access Cab. As soon as you put the key in the ignition, and start it, the doors lock. As soon as you turn off the ignition, the doors unlock.

Do you have the factory alarm? It doesn't do it with my '09. I do miss all of the customizable features I had with my Accord. The one I really liked was when I held down the unlock button on my remote my windows would roll down.

I had an 2009 4x2 Access Cab Base, that I traded in for the 2010. It also did the same thing. I drove them off the lot like that. Yes, both had the alarm on them.

they might not be able to, its more of a safety thing so if you get into a roll-over accident your doors wont fly open

yeah, i like that feature two, but i usually just install an alarm with remote start and they set that function for me. but since i just bought my truck about two weeks ago, I still haven't gotten it done yet.

Hey they beat me to it so I had to be helpful.:D
Would like to have that feature too but too lazy to put the alarm on since our cars are garaged most of the time.
Standard feature on the wifes 2009 Camry though so I programmed it to lock when put in gear and stay locked until manually unlocked.
If a passenger gets out and she drives off it will lock again at 12 mph or close to it.
Gives me a little peace of mind that her doors will always be locked unless she wants them unlocked.
