I had the 5k service done the other day, asked for the transmission TSB Rev. 1 and to have the blinker set to 6. Service advisor said setting the blinker would cost $25. I said "really, I thought it was free with first service". He asked "did the salesperson tell you it was free". I said "yes", the produced the printout of all the vehicle parameters that can be changed. Service advisor said since the TechStream would need to be hooked up to do the TSB they could reprogram the blinker no charge. You gotta stand your ground and show 'em you know what you're talking about.

Why isn't this a setting? I had a cheap Hyundai Sonata for 2 months while my truck was being repaired after being T-boned. It had tons of user settings including the lane change blinker count . Everything like this should be a user setting in the software. It's cheap to program during manufacture. I say stuff like this is to rip off the consumer more.

I did it with Christa. I've had the battery disconnected, still works. Imagine that.

If anyone is local to SGV or Torrance in SoCal, I can do it for you with Carista. I paid the app vendor for a full year. A few little extra things can be done with it if your vehicle allows it.

I ran into issues when looking for VCDS reader for our audi. If the main website is written in broken english or poor grammar, stay away. There were too many that were chinese knockoffs with reliability and software compatibility issues.

When I go to docooler, they sell docooler reader, docooler fishing rod, alarm clock, and cycling shorts. very diverse company. Doesn't seem like the cable comes with the software though. With the Volks/Audi, the cables are cheap but the software to read it was anywhere from 70-300. It seems the same here. I was looking for the last few weeks for a techstream software and they are hard to come by. anyone with leads on software?

Well read the post I quoted. I'm letting people know it's not an issue because it was brought up. Thats the whole point of this forum, to help people, not be a jag off. Move along.

It was an informative post, many have already said if you disco the
battery, you'd lose the setting, which would suck if you paid to have it done.

I wasn't knocking the post or trying to be a tool. We have enough of those on here. I just thought it was funny in a Freudian sort of way.

After rereading my post, I probably could have worded it a little differently but I still would have posted something because I do still think it was funny.

I am sorry if it bothered you though. That wasn't my intent.

Totally incorrect information, once it's set you can disconnect the battery and nothing will change. Just like any factory setting.
