Cobble stones/washboard roads.....steering loose?

So i noticed that when driving slow on coble stones roads i can feel something loose down in the steering. not up by the steering wheel, but down by the wheels...i can feel the loose feeling as it travels up through the wheel. only get the shaky feeling when turning slight left or right...noise goes away somewhat when going straight:

can someone point me in the right direction of what it could be or how to fix it? I hear it one of those "regular" taco issues?

Only thing I can think of that involved the 1st gens more so I think was the steering rack bushings.

 

I've felt the same thing at some point. It's almost like something needs to be tightened.

 

Start with better shocks

 

i have the TRD shocks...i don't think it is acceptable to pay 25-30K for a truck and have an issue like this.....it has nothing to do with not having shocks that are up to your standards...they are the top of the line shock that can come from the factory...

 

There have been threads like this. And I think someone pointed people in the direction of some coupler needing tightening on the steering shaft.

Thanks...but i actually read AND posted in that thread....the thread offers NO FIX...that's why i started this thread....does anyone have a fix write up?

 

That's what conclusion I came to.

 

Look into these first. if there is any slop in your steering rack you will feel it all the way through, especially when on washboard roads. These are cheap and fairly simple to install.

 

I have it too, been told it's normal.

 

I know this. I was simply pointing out how I would fix it. But being that they have 2nd gens, they can only wish for a cheap and easy fix.

 

I just go highway speeds on washboard roads and float over all that crap, once you get to about 50-60 it smooths out

Go faster and you wont notice it

 

come on people...we shouldn't just "settle" for another "normal" issue....for 30K i would think the thing would at least FEEL solid...even if it wasn't no one out there has a fix? ( a REAL FIX)...not a "just live with it fix)
