    Basically.

I mean, I'll go to Hatteras and drive all over the beach 24/7 with just me and the hound. Worst thing that could happen would be a fish hook stuck in a bad spot, maybe a decent cut if I slip with the bait knife, or the truck gets buried to the point I couldn't dig out (yeah right...), oh well, I'm stuck. On a beach. Damn the luck.

Worst case alone in the mountains? Hit the wrong line, roll the truck, break my neck, run across bear cubs and their angry ass momma, break the truck and have to walk miles of rocks and woods to even get back to anywhere for help, get my arm stuck between two rocks and end up like that dude that had to cut off his own arm... shit like that.

Bah! it's all good stories and scars to prove it!

Wife and I have been stuck once (winched out), accosted by rednecks in the middle of the night in Ohio (they were drunk, no blood spilled), and had a few oh crap! moments that turned out all right in the end.

Scariest was hiking when the kids were little and came across a bear cub up a tree. We didnt see the mother but I'm quite sure she saw us! We hotfooted the kids out with Beth (wife) leading and me as rear gaurd. Mama bears are like Chuck Norris ya know.....

That is true. I've been known to randomly pack the truck and go off the grid for the weekend plenty of times. Usually to the beach. Might just have to pick the mountains this time. Problem is they're both pretty close to the same drive time, and as much as I love the mountains, I'm just drawn to the ocean. So I instinctively head that direction. I can't explain it, but I just feel like I belong there.

I hear ya. we're equally close to the mountains and the beach. ....and it's only another hour drive and a ferry ride to CALO. I could happily do life in either direction. Beach has a certain appeal that feels absolutely care free. even then about a week in the sun and wind and water and I'm ready to have a shade tree. ....

I'm kinda curious where everyone is from in relation to me. I'm in Madison which is just a little town that not very many know. And what are some good trails around our area?

The closest person I've noticed is Casper in Culpeper.

Peters Mill is $5. Flagpole was free. Those are the only 2 I've done.

Was flagpole pretty fun? Difficult? Cause my friend and I were thinking about going and its about 90 minutes away from me.

Was great fun. The Union Springs road up had 2 sort of difficult section, but I'm stock, and didn't have any problems. Here is a video of the 2 most challenging points:

Do you think i could do it with a 2.5" lift and 33x12.50s and a 4 banger manual. And of course 4x4.
