2008 stock suspension is still OK

Well, I've been working on some landscaping projects at the house for a while now. I don't have the rear suspension TSB on my taco. Check this out, I got 1.5 bobcat scoops of landscaping rock at 1350 lbs per scoop. Total of 2025 pounds of rock in the bed. And ABSOLUTELY NO bottoming out AT ALL.

SWEET!! That's the most I've put in my bed, I usually don't transport more then 1 scoop, but I wanted to see if the taco can handle a full ton. And it can!!

The ride was very bouncy, it wasn't stiff like it usually is, and of course you have to be careful with the breaking. But it really does appear to me that the rear suspension issues have been figured out on the 2008 model years. People were complaining about bottoming out with 300 lbs of shit in the back. 2000 lbs babay!!

 

was wondering myself- had 1100lbs of foundation blocks in my dc no probs. anyone own both an 08 and 05-07 to compare? still only has 2 plus helper leaf. maybe they are thicker springs or different metal??

 

I had roughly 1000 lbs of stuff in the back of mine, I could hardly notice it was there. I was wondering about the TSB myself but I really dont think I need or want it.

 

That is what is so perplexing about this issue. Seems a lot of 08 DC's do NOT need the TSB at all and others with reg. cab's or Access cabs almost ALL do need the TSB whether it is an 05-08. It almost seems there has to be a quality control issue with their spring vendor. Some are right, some are not.

Thats funny I had 5 people (including me) in my 08 and it bottom out like crazy. Thats why I got he rear suspension TSB done.

 

my o8 dc bottoms out like crazy allso,with only my 230 lb dirt bike + riding gear and a steel ramp.is there a tsb on this? bild date 01 08 in cali

 

I'm not sure if I needed it, but got it for peace of mind - I haven't heard of anyone complaining AFTER getting it done

 

If you can get it, then more power to you. I tried getting it when I first got my truck, before I even loaded it up with anything. The main 1-800 toyota guys told me it isn't applicable on 2008's.

I was kinda torn, I didn't like that the TSB raised the ass end up, I really like the stance of the stock 4x4 DC. But at the same time, I didn't want the bed bottoming out when I load up the back.

I got the best of both worlds! Same stock stance that I prefer, and no bottoming out with 2000 lbs of shit in the back. Hells yeah!

 

Had a little runaround getting my TSB done on my '08 but glad I did just the same. I haven't even hooked on to my trailer yet but feel better about it considering the difference in the way it has handled the loads that I have hauled before and since having it done. Seems to differ from truck to truck. I also like the little bit of lift I got for free, if you don't count the 5100's I added to level afterwards.

 

word no bottoming out and i went from san diego to rosarito(MEXICO) bumps and shit...maybe the guy got the tsb done before me i see three leaf springs idk if thats stock or tsb...well anyways truck sat kinda low but i didnt get scared at all
