Sorry if this is OT but I have a couple 4 foot fluorescent shop lights, 2' fire stick, and a CETACEA truckbed dog tether (http://www.cetaceacorp.com/truck-bed-tether-en.html) looking for a good home. Don't need them anymore and I'd hate to throw them out. PM me if interested.

I'd like to add some front recovery points to my '08 double-cab without needing a new bumper and I was thinking of having these shackle mounts being welded to the frame. Preferably with the round edges towards the front vs. them facing the ground. Is this safe and practical to do so? If so, is there someone here who could do it? TRACperformance, Speed Freek and jeffz0rz were a few of the names mentioned here.
edit** with the shackle's wider sides facing the sides

Steel it looks like, yeah I can do them..gonna need a hell of a pick-up point however.

    PMd, I think

You're talking to someone who just stepped in the kiddie pool regarding trucks. I'm assuming pick-up point means a strong structural area to put these things on?

The frame thickness is at or under 1/8th of an inch. The tow hooks are closer to 3/8th thickness. This makes it hard to penetrate into the tow hook without burning through the frame. Bumpers can handle these tow hooks since they anchor to a larger surface area that they bolted onto. These can be welded on but will most likely break if you are tugged by that point.

You already have a stock recovery point up front on the drivers side. Not to be confused with the tie down point on the passenger side that should never be used for recovery. Hope this helps!

Front tow point and then a d ring receptacle in the tow package. Those damn things work excellent and got me out of a bunch of jams.

Well it helped me get other people out of shitty situations. Either way.

The new lights kick ass! The pictures don't show too well since it's just barely after sunset, but once it's all dark out the new bar really helps out.

Also I've had my ditch lights for a while, too, but I really like how I have that visibility while going around corners on the trail.

    Here's a little before & after shot:

Thanks. They're reversed on my truck, tow being on the passenger but I don't want to use a hook or eye loop mentioned in other threads. Also based on what I've read/seen, it'd be best to have a tow point on both sides

Is Suicide Hill where the water park is and there's those homes up on the hill? I think I remember that as a kid when my dad used to take us riding motorcycles out there. There was no track homes, no Coors Amphitheatre, no car dealerships. I think the shooting range was still open off of Main Street, but this was almost 30 years ago.

Yes very strong, dont want to tear it out. That wouldnt do you any good. And depending on the orientation, leverage could work against you.

Not necessarily a beach but lake Jennings is a good spot to camp at and just a quick walk to the water for some fishing. it's right next to a bunch of senior mobile homes but once you get back to the camping area it's like your out in the woods
