True that man, King ALWAYS picks up unless they are at an event. That besides the ride itself sold me to stay with King.

Awesome thanks guys. I have icons currently and I admit I didn't fully understand the differences between the two before purchasing. Totally lack of self-education... but I have been underwhelmed by the on-road performance of the Icons. I feel every single bump in the road and it sends a jolt through my entire truck. Long-term I feel like my truck is going to start experiencing problems from all of those jolts if I dont do something about it. I think switching out to Kings is inevitable. And again, I should have done the research to understand the differences in the mechanics of the two shocks before purchasing, so not bashing Icon. I know there are reasons for how they are engineered..

I think you nailed it on the head man...they were designed for different suspension approaches. I know you are in NC, but I am looking to sell my kings in the February time frame since I am going LT. I can give you a shout when that time comes if you want.

Wish you had reached out to me a few months back. I'm in Raleigh and just sold my kings that had 2k on them. Now I'm selling BAMF relocation kit and King 2.0"x12". Hopefully this one buyer comes through.

You guys also need to realize you are buying OFFROAD shocks, so whatever company you buy from is gonna be valving them based on your truck and what kind of offroading you do. If you are buying OFFROAD shocks for on road ride, I'm not even sure how to respond to that other than to ask for money because you've obviously got plenty of it to throw around lol

    Same with Icon :0) At
yeah I defenitely understand that man. That's why I cite my own lack of education prior to purchasing. I do however think that not all off-road shocks come with the sacrifice of a smooth on-road ride. That is again where I should have done more research. Off road I love how my icons perform.

    I don't think that's the issue.

    Just because the c/o
I greatly prefer my Icons on my PreRunner over the Fox on my 4wd. Actually, I kind of hate the Fox shocks. Highly uncomfortable ride on the roads IMO whereas the Icons feel perfect.

Gotcha. Maybe my expectations.... Either way thanks for the input. I am running a full dakar rear-leaf back as well, that could be playing into it as a I don't have much weight on my truck right now. Although I feel the stiffness in the front mostly.

Im running the Icon stage 2 kit. I think they are the 650lb? Just looked at the wheelers website and it doesn't state the specifics of the springs that come on the coilovers. I have them cranked up all the way pretty much. A little over 2 inches of thread showing. I didn't necessarily want to do this, but the dakars in the back were so much higher, was trying to level it as much as possible. I called Icon before doing so and they said it shouldn't be a problem.

    This.

But before you go changing all your shocks, Preload is gonna cause the ride to be harsh. If you're cranked up for lift, there's no way around it for 4x4, you're gonna be a bit stiffer up front. But, then again, its Icon, so get Kings ASAP.

Not sure what you mean by "but, then again, Its Icon, so get Kings ASAP", but thanks for the suggestion. I'll look into reducing my rear lift so that I can adjust down the coilovers. My concern for wanting to level the truck was not so much what it looks like, but more for the driveline angles.

You can take a leaf out of the Dakar pack if you don't need the weight capacity.

Changing front lift won't affect rear drive line angles though, all it does is beat up your CVs more.

some say the ICON rides stiffer being digressive but whats the consensus with the ICONs with the compression damping control valve? Couldn't you adjust out the stiffness?

So the adjuster only makes it stiffer. The zero on your adjuster makes it back to the original dampening that it comes to you in the box. that make sense? So if you tell them to valve it to more of a comfortable daily street use, they can and then use the adjusters to stiffen the ride when you go off-road if you like.

So just so everyone is clear, the clickers are not actually changing your valving, they are merely restricting the flow through the reservoir based on whatever setting you put it at. So its difficult to have both, comfort on the street and amazing offroad shocks. You gotta give up something to get the other. Also, what you consider comfortable onroad might be different from the next guy. I know its long travel, but I think my truck handles great offroad, and the onroad ride is pretty good as well, albiet a bit stiff at the mall whereas my wife hates the onroad ride. So just keep in that in mind when asking online about what setting you need for something.
