It happens. Restorations can take forever because you are always making decisions on parts. Do I save the part or replace it? Can I replace it or do I have to fabricate? Original used part or aftermarket? Perform like factory or upgrade? The choices are ridiculous and you almost have to be there 7x24 to babysit the project. If something doesn't fit, the junior guys will sit and wait till the more experienced guys come to help. Everything stalls till you kick someone in the ass. There are always "other things to do" around the shop. A year in the bodyshop is almost normal for a restoration.

Let me guess, he was using it to drive a metal pole in the ground and didn't have a sledge hammer?

Seriously? I'd say he owes you a new hammer.
And he needs to take a course in selecting the proper tool for a job.

He's going to find a local Snap On Dealer where he works and replace it for me or purchase a new one

    Good luck with that

He did originally ask to use it for a stuck suspension part then it was used for couch demolition

Next time he is sick, ask if he wants to use your rectal thermometer. If he says yes, put the hammer up his butt instead. :)

Perhaps this may remind him to consider proper tool selection

I was told this is a common problem on older Snap On Dead Blow hammers. especially if it's. Cold outside and the hammer has been contaminated with oil or coolant . I was told under these conditions they shatter easily

Edit ... Did a little interwebs search on shattered dead blow hammers and there's a lot of issues with them shattering due to age , brittleness and chemical exposure

Maybe I can get caught up here later, but here's a few shots. All sounded great! I have to get some wider, paintable cable channels for the heavier wire, but other than that, about done. The first shot is the Bluetooth screen streaming music from my phone. It does really well!
