Hi everyone. I'm Pretty new to Tacomaworld. I'm a Second owner of a Tacoma. I had a 2010 4x4 access cab and had a 3" leveling kit in the front on 33"s along with other basic mods. Exhaust, intake, etc. Now I have a 2007 4 door TRD Sport 4x4 with completely stock suspension. I need help deciding what suspension to choose. stuck between Fox Ultimate Suspension kit or the RCD 4.5 inch bilstein lift kit. I wanna run both with 33" BFG All terrains. I go to the dunes often since I live like 20 minutes away and have open desert and trails close by.:dancingbacon::mudding: Any help and or input will :help:. Thanks!:)

I have Fox 2.5 0-3 remote reservoir, and I love them set at 2.75". Both the on and off road performance has been great. Don't forget a set of Wheelers Super Bumps to finish it off. There are many good choices in front coilovers, and they all have fans. I just blew a seal on one Thursday after around 100K miles of tough use. One piece of advice: Regardless what you get, think about how you will handle the day when one goes. They can be rebuilt fairly cheaply, but the turn around can kill you, especially at the holidays. I had two choices. Wait a month for the rebuild, and do without my truck, or buy a whole new set. I found a local rebuilder, but he was out of stock on the rebuild kit. I ended up buying the new set, and will rebuild mine later to keep on the shelf for the next time. I should have picked up a cheap used set to rebuild, but I put it off. Now I'm screwed. If you drive them with no oil you can seriously damage them. Mine went from tiny leak to gushing oil in one day, so I had little warning. One thing for sure: you can never go back to stock after driving a good suspension.

Either is a good setup, I'd decide what amount of lift you want and what your intended needs are going to be and let that be the deciding factor.

I'd say the Fox is more versatile, but the RCD, for that kind of lift, is well reviewed.

Im aiming for a better ride quality on and off road. Not too concerned about lift, just want it to clear 33" tires without rubbing or having to trim and shave off a whole lot. From what Ive reviewed, the RCD lift clears the 33"s with no problems. Not sure about the Fox coilover kit.

The problem with rubbing on 33s isn't lift related, the frame and fender wells aren't conducive to that size tire.

I'd do some reading on what it takes to clear 285s/33s and not listen to the manufacturer advertising. Wheels/UCAs/tires/lift all come into play. Not because the lift is tall enough or not, but because midsize truck not built for 33s.

Ive done some reading on the RCD lift on TW, which all have nothing but good things to say about it and that it clears 33" tires. I just think that Fox coilovers would offer a better ride quality vs. a drop bracket kit. Gonna search to see who is running this Fox ultimate suspension kit.

If your planning on playing with your truck I would not go with the the RCD lift. It may clear larger tires but offers little in the way of added performance or suspension travel. just my .02

i dont agree with the waiting around to have your shocks rebuilt. Do it yourself. Its not hard. A gallon of the oil costs $50 and the seal kits are $20 for each shock. I asked around here a few tips and went to town on mine. Saves you the shipping and "labor costs" Just need some basic tools and a place to rent a nitrogen tank from. Done.
