I have a rear locker and still need pulled sometimes. Haha. However when I do get stuck it's typically REALLY stuck.

You're right Garrett. The link refers to an aftermarket AAL added to a factory leaf pack.

"An add a leaf (does not) magically increase droop of the factory leaf pack".
I agree with this completely. This was my setup in my initial foray into suspension upgrades: A factory leaf pack plus a 3 leaf AAL designed for the factory leaf pack. I improved my spring rate and my load carrying capability, but not my droop.

The AAL that I am referring to on my current setup is the OME DAKAR 29XL AAL, which matches up to the OME Full Leaf pack that I have. This AAL will not work with OEM leaf packs. My setup increases the mentioned (in your link) spring rate. The OME AAL helps maintain the already improved droop of the OME leaf pack over a greater payload range. The droop and progressive compliance over rough terrain is much improved over stock.

How do I know that the droop is improved with my Dakar leaf combo? Because I needed the longer B110's and the shocks are already fully extended.

How do I know that doing a shackle flip will increase my droop further? Because I will need even longer shocks, or add limit straps because my B110's are already fully maxed out with my non-shackle flipped current Dakar+ 29XL combo.

But my question to all is: Why add limit straps after adding a shackle flip? Wouldn't that be the same as NOT adding a shackle flip and NOT adding limit straps? Is there additional benefit to the shackle flip that I'm not understanding?

BTW, the Dakar 29XL AAL is actually the same exact leaf of the second (from the top) spring of the OME Dakar Leaf pack. In terms of length, width, bend radius and spring rate.

    Vultures already circling. LOL.

My HS 3 leaf AAL's, rear 5100's and front 884X's already claimed by @diabetik81

My current Dakar AAL is staying attached to my Dakar leaf pack for 5 or 10 years.

If I do my shackle flip and blow out my B110's - then they're FREE!

Shackle flip is still a big question mark. Unless I can find relatively inexpensive longer shocks than the B110's.

    Just getting started
I obviously don't have dakars. so I am researching and trying to help. but on the second thread that I linked it looks like with your leafs you get 9" of travel. B110 have 11" of travel. so Im confused as much as you are as to how you are maxing out your droop? I should also let you know I don't know shit about suspension, just trying to help.

How would installing the 29xl increase your travel numbers on your ome leafs? I would like to know for my own knowledge.

Note I'm not trying to come across as a dick. don't read it as such.

I wasnt in the market. Now that i purchased the cage, I am. Also, I heard CVT gives 15% off for TW members. But yet to confirm that.

Did you get one @Subway4X4 ?

    Appreciate the help Garrett.

I don't understand those numbers as well.

    Bilsteins specs are:
    • Extended Length: 27.28"
    • Collapsed Length: 16.34"
    • That is 10.94" of travel, commonly refereed to as an 11" stroke shock.
I measured my shocks. Here it is at full droop. 27"
So my conclusion is that I'm getting 11" of travel with the Dakars+ AAL.

    upload_2016-12-8_18-0-10.jpg

I didn't think that the 29XL increases the travel numbers of the Dakar leafs. I was thinking that the OME AAL helps maintain the already improved droop of the OME leaf pack over a greater payload range (because of the increased spring rate.)

But, with the measured travel (above pic) with these AAL's, then a natural conclusion would be that somehow, the Dakar AAL's improved the travel numbers.

Not taking it that way at all.

    Me too.

    Thanks again
