    Greetings,

So something finally broke on my 2006 SR5. Yes, I know there's only three of us that don't have TRD's! It is the pushbutton on the overhead console that allows you to use a garage door remote. I looked in the parts catalog and it appears to me that I can only buy the entire overhead assembly to the tune of $150. I did not know if anyone had experience finding just the piece that is broken. Please see attached pictures.

Have you considered looking at a salvage yard or calling ones local to you and see if they have any 2nd generation Tacomas?

Is the same part broken on all you guys' Tacoma's too? Ya'll 2-8?? That'd be weird. I guess I'll be #9, no TRD here either... and the clip that holds that thing closed is the part that broke off mine, not the button part. So now the spring clip of the garage door opener itself is kind of keeping the door from just hanging in front of my rear-view mirror. It sucks, but I'm not about to spend $100+ when all I need is the part that the screws are holding in, in the OP's pictures.

I have a garage, but don't use a remote, so if I could remove mine and have something else to replace that hole, I would be fine to give up mine.

That's cool of you, Markal... I've even considered those 3D printers and see if I could come up with a CAD drawing or something. Since those nifty printers got popular, I see folks starting up businesses with them. Surely they have to be cheaper than what I'm finding in ebay, even. A 2nd Gen overhead console is currently going for $90, though completed listings show one recently went for a little over $50. Ridiculous.

Would it be possible to use an epoxy glue for plastics to fix this, instead of paying for a replacement?

I have a few spots on my fiberglass Leer cap that has damage and was looking at a fiberglass repair kit, but I may look at PC-7 to repair it, with it's multiple uses too.

Epoxy is super easy for like $5, or why not go to a pull-a-part or junkyard and just scavenge the piece for like $5-10? Even the cheaper JB-weld for plastics 2 part epoxy or loctite brand epoxy will do fine. You can always reinforce it by sandwiching some plastics over it and epoxy it all together....super easy fix.
