Yes, at my dealership last year the 2016s limiteds were selling for around $41k now the 2017s are selling for like $43k. I got my 2016 sport with the JBL P&T package for $39,250 and now they sell them for like $41-42k

    None.
From what I've noticed, the rear sliding window is now powered and it looks more sleek because it doesn't have the rubber around the edges. It looks much nicer IMO but not worth a HUGE price difference. I was under the impression it comes with a remote locking tailgate but that may not be true as I read more. I've seen the 17 with mud flaps but didn't think that was an option for mine.

The "BUGS" everyone is talking about might be the coding in the transmission. My 16 was searching for gears constantly when going up hills. They re chipped the computer and it completely fixed it.

Damn!! I ordered the exact same truck as you but when it came it did not have the JBL package. I was bummed! They looked at my paperwork and is said JBL they then tried to build another one and said the JBL package was no longer an option on the custom build. I believed them but if you got a 2017 with JBL P&T then they lied to me!! Suck. I dont want to do an aftermarket sound system and I was bummed that I don't have a sub even if people say its not worth it. Im realy happy with my P&T package!

    Wow, that really sucks.

I know there can be regional differences for what can be built, so maybe thats it? Or maybe they just lied. Try to "build" one on Toyota.com and see what happens. I can build the config here in SouthEastToyota territory: http://southeast.buyatoyota.com/Tacoma

As for mine, when I was shopping at the start of September it seemed all of the TRD ORs had the non-JBL P&T. They had no trouble ordering it though, and it turned out they found one in the pipeline that had everything but the factory tonneau. They swapped the tonneau bits from another truck to mine and I took delivery in late September.

Yes, "worth it" is a very subjective thing. I don't thump the windows but I do enjoy the added "body" a bit of sub brings. I've fully enjoyed the equivalent upgrade in other vehicles and never wanted for more, so made sure I had it in my Taco.

It is if the truck had the "tailgate power lock" option installed. It isn't if the option wasn't purchased.

I asked about that option, they wanted $900 installed. I laughed, and bought the Pop-N-Lock for $89 and installed it in 2 hours, knowing nothing of doing it before.

    Save your money.

    Nope, didn't purchase

Shit, I haven't even locked my tailgate yet, maybe I should make sure the lock works.

$259 is what it's listed for here. Probably either port installed or may just be the dealer. They started doing it about mid-model year with the 16's here

It's the same mechanism in the Tundras, and it's a very simple system. Also, super easy to access with just removing the Torx screws in the gate. I doubt it will give you trouble.

Regarding the Pop-N-Lock, the solenoid they use is pretty beefy, I feel like it will last as well.

I might have thrown $259 at the issue, but $900 they lost their damn minds.

It really was easy to do, however, and we all love tinkering with our rigs. This was an easy slam dunk. To add a cherry on it, my mom bought it for me for my birthday, so I got mine completely free :)

It's a distributor option so not even at the port. It's just an aftermarket hack job like the rest of em...no need to spend the money through them if another outfit can do it cheaper.

Wow, they were definitely trying to rip you off.

Here it was $174.90 invoice, installed with warranty following the truck's 3/36k warranty. For me, it was worth the extra $85 to have it already installed and covered for three years. I certainly could have done the install, but have other big time-sink home improvement projects in flight right now so time to install accessories has been quite limited.
