I think we all just need to agree that everyone hates the flyers.

The point about McDavid making Crosbys mistakes is a good one though. Crosby didn't take the first few years with a shitty team well and it definitely tainted the way people look at him sometimes. McDavid would do well to keep above the bullshit of a third rate player.

 

Kadri will look like a steal in a year or two.

 

For the amount of focus and attention that's placed upon him - daily....I think McDavid is doing well. And many players in the NHL already highly respect him. Jordan's comments above, are just low brow 'leafs fan' chatter. Which I didn't expect as much here.

McDavid has done well but that's also why the media has latched on to this banter. It's not leaf fans chatter. Too be blunt there are more than enough storylines going on with the Leafs that no one out east gives a shit about McDavid beyond his stats and odds of winning hardware this year. If he wants to avoid carrying the reputation that unfairly sometimes fill lows Crosby he should keep putting up the points with class and let his work speak for itself. He has that opportunity still to be known as as class act like Gretzky

Exactly, he just needs to play and rip the guy on the ice and then act like nothing is wrong to the media. Its what most players do. You want kids looking up to the best player in the world and his scoring, not his complaining and talking about on ice chatter that is beyond what the regular fan base has to know about

 

He just needs to leave it on the ice. Everyone ripped crosby for it, and same when burrows did it with the ref years back. You get hated when you bring the stuff to the media that should stay on the ice.

 

The media plays the cards the players deal themselves. It doesn't take much for a player to get an unfair label. Why do you think so many people, even on here, think Crosby is whiny even though his stats and captaincy prove the exact opposite?

You're misreading this all as me saying McDavid is a whiny bitch. I'm not saying that at all. What I am saying is that if he has another outburst like this the media will make sure the masses see him that way which would be a shame.

 

I do kind of agree with @maxpower29 though, on the McDavid thing. I thought it was like an unwritten rule that you don't repeat what is said on the ice to the media. I have no problem with McDavid saying he didn't like something that was said or done, but the way he did it was kinda weak, IMO. Like mentioned before, you don't think they were trying to get under his skin in the game? Of course they were, so what better way to do it and it obviously worked. I'm a Pens fan, I know all about this type of thing, especially against Philly lol.

 

exactly, people are just too loving of their guy. I would say the same if it were a leaf. I love Mcdavid and hes canadian and will be our best player for years soon and I want him to be the face of the NHL and not a little puke like Burrows or Marchand. He should be the next Crosby
