damn bilstein settings....

I got my Bilsteins in today and I've been trying to figure out what the hell setting to put em on (DC/SB Sport). My TSB has my ass in stickin way up in the air,but I don't wanna go totally level cause when we go campin or i got somethin in the back my nose will stick up. So my question is this to you guys with DC's...... .85" or 1.75" with the rear TSB? Cuz I only got enough green right now to have the work done once. Hopin maybe you guys might throw up some pics, any suggestions would be wonderful, no suggestions are understood seeing as how this is virtually beating a dead horse with a stick.

 

I've hear countless times that with the rear TSB, 1.75" levels it out perfectly so maybe you want to go .85" if you want your ass end up a tad.

 

im worried at 1.75" about shake, rattles, and rolls in the suspension components over time, i.e. cv and diff. so would throwing in a diff. drop at 1.75" help the angles?

 

TSB and billys at .85
the TSB only raised the back about 1 inch, hense .85
no rubbing or vibrations even with the 265/75R16 goodyear Duratracs ( highly recommend )

 

The diff. drop is pointless IMO. it only lowers it about a half an inch! You really shouldn't need it if you're only going up 1.75 inches. I'm sittin at 2.5 inches up front and i have no vibes nor have i had any problems with cv's or diff. btw i've been lifted for 3 years!!

 

Try the .85 setting first and if you don't like it then u can always go up another notch! keep in mind that as you go up your ability to get a good alignment will go down!

 

I recently got billys for my 09 Dcab long bed and at 1.75, the truck is perfectly level. I dont have any pictures yet but my cv's have barely an angle at all above horizontal (maybe close to 10 degrees up) If you are worried about money for the install just do it yourself, I did my front shocks in the walmart parking lot with a college kid budget in four hours with the help of a friend. Self install is half the fun anyway! (even compressed the coils by myself) That way you could do it at either .85 or 1.75, drive it for a day without getting an alignment just to see if you like the height, and just redo it if youre not satisfied.

 

^I think he mentioned he has the money to do it once (probably by a shop) therefore he wants input on what level because he doesn't want to pay twice to ge the same work done.

To the op: do it yourself save the money and then if you don't like it, take them off and change them either way you want

would like to buy the 5100's, set up at 1.75", with the new rears, though right now, stock, with 4 leafs, i am level with my canopy on. Will the new shocks keep me level, or do i need blocks, shackle flip?

so all y'all with the 1.75" and tsb, what size tires are you running? Are my NEWLY purchased 265/70/17 bfg at's gonna look mickey mouse this way?

 

No I am running the same size tire with this lift and it looks awesome

 

This is what I've read as well. Downsouth Motorsports verified these settings when I ordered my 5100s.

 

Mine are the stock SR5 size, I believe 235/75/16. I could be off by a bit...

 

How much is the shop gonna charge you? Depending on price you might look into airbags. That way it's level w/ no weight. And as you start to put weight in the bed you can air the bags up a little to get back to level.

 

When I had mine set at 1.75 it was still a little nose down and I didn't notice my CV angle changes that much at all.

I don't think you will need the diff drop for 1.75

plus you have to remember that you have stiffer leaf pack now and more material in them from before (3 leafs vs 4).

 

my 2010 Dcab 4wd has tsb and 5100 set at 1.75. Maybe a smidge nose high. Wish I would have set them to .85.
