    thanks dude.

hey Rik, alot of what you stated is in this thread. Lots of great reading if you find time.

Jacob- if you find it interesting and you find the time, this thread goes in and out of repetitiveness and most pages have something worth reading. If you can find time, try to go back and finish reading everything.

I liked your post, but to make a correction of this statement, God and Allah are the same whatever anyone tells you, the words just come from different cultures. Comparing Jesus to Allah, though, is much different as a Christian would call Jesus and Allah one in the same (2/3 of the trinity) whereas a Muslim does not consider Jesus Allah. It's pretty much like the difference between saying "hey" or "hello." They both mean the same thing, but carry different linguistic praxis.

From my perspective, it seems very clear that one glaring trait all of us have in common is the desire to know truth. Some of us look to religion, others to science, others to aliens. The frequently unasked question in this debate is why? Why do we want to know the boundaries of the physical world?

Logically, it does not all add up. Why is "the beginning" so important to us? It really has no bearing on our existence. That why is the reason I believe Jesus created the world. He created the world and being his creation, I am drawn to the creator, we are drawn to the creator.

    Matthew 7:13-20

so we all spawned from the inbreeding of 2 people....after they ate an apple that was taunted to them by a talking snake....

just as crazy as everyone coming from monkey, but i'd believe one over the other as it is a lil more logical

Good point! I think most folks consider the "fruit" was an apple, and the tempter was a "snake", most likely portrayed in movies. The actual text reads that the "fruit" forbidden was from the tree of Knowledge, and that Eve was tempted by a serpent, which was one of the wisest creatures created; not until the serpent was "cursed" did it become what I assume is/was a snake as we know them. Having observed human behavior over the years, I can see where the "monkey" reference might be considered, myself included of course...:)

if anyone is interested a good book to read is "the science of god" by gerald schroeder. the man is a theologian and physicist, and makes the argument that God and science are suppose to work together, not against eachother.

By upbringing I'm a Catholic. By education, a scientist. I kind of am of the thought process (like others stated) that some sort of Diety put things together and let it run rampant.

How can things evolve? Simple - billions of years of change. Think about it - once change every 10 years, and eventually your Vespa will become a lamborghini. In fact, there are many "classic" examples of species changing over very short time periods to better suit a changing environment.

Having said that, I think there are certainly flaws in a purely scientific approach. What started the big bang, what is "outside" the expanding void of the universe, etc? There's the multiverse theory, but even that has the same fundamental problem.

My biggest problem though is organized religion - ultimately it's about power (if you don't believe me, go look at the hundreds of cathedrals and churches around the world. They didn't get gilded in gold out of magic). I think the ideas that many religions present is good - forgiveness, sin, etc, but the message gets twisted by whoever is speaking it. I mean, seriously, Christianity - how many bloody variations are there on one Bible? And how many variations on the Bible are there? Not to mention, how do we know that a monotheistic view is right, and that Ra, Zeus, or Thor aren't sitting up in the clouds somewhere, rolling their eyes at how we've twisted their messages?

so did several monkeys turn to humans all at once so there were different mates to choose from? I think inbreeding monkeys sounds even worse!........or maybe not:notsure:

Hmmm inbreeding monkeys? Thats a good point. What about how all the sudden one celled organisms began. One cell organisms are extremely complex then when they became multi-cell organisms. I guess they must have inbred also.

Still more genetic variation than springing from 2 people (adam and eve) whom, correct me if I wrong, would be clones since wasn't Eve created from one of Adam's ribs?

Another question I thought of that might have been repeated and I apologize if it is but is the evolution story of how humans came to be any more abstract than the creation story?

they've already found the fossils that were part "human" and part ape. lucy is one and they found another not too long ago that was older than her, but not quite the link. they have estimated when the split off the last ancestor was, but have not been able to find one from the exact range. if you have ever said you are a homo sapien, you are talking a descendant from an ape and not just a "human".

adam had to be a very effeminate woman or eve ended up being a butch woman...

None yet......trying to figure out where to start ;)
I’m not trying to throw any names out there; just reposting some comments I read over and wanted to add my 2 cents….

2 Peter 1:20-21 20Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. 21For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Original post by: Jacob_wood

“Now I ask if that is the case then how is this deity or God created because surely it's not possible to have this deity create itself now is it?”

Psalm 90:2 2Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

My comments: God is, and was, and always will be. When he introduced Himself to Abraham. He says he is "I AM".

He exists in an eternal "present" - He invented time so we could grasp things.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

This why it’s called FAITH people. EVERY religion is based on faith. But that’s why it’s called faith. Yes, the bible explains everything. And the things it doesn’t, maybe we weren’t meant to understand in the first place. The answers to a lot of these questions are IN THE BIBLE, but if you don’t believe the Bible in the first place, then you won’t be willing to listen to someone who does and is trying to answer your question the best way they know how. So please…… (again, not naming any names) to those who are dead set on disproving everything anyone has to say, or throwing scientists’ claims, or documentaries, or blogs, or whatever you find back at someone who’s explaining their beliefs… just stop. It’s rude, and it doesn’t contribute to the conversation at all. It only brings harsh feelings, resentment, and fighting.

    As Charli put it:

Are you talking about the Leakeys who supposedly found a skull fragment in Africa years ago, SUPPOSEDLY human/ape and named it Lucy? That has been discredited already by most archeologists...please provide info on the new "link" you mentioned...can't find anything on that one...thanks...
