If you drive above 2500 rpm you will easily lose a few mpg.

Best way to save gas, drive between 1900-2400 rpm.

We will chalk it up to crap winter gas.... I am doing the actual math for my mileage...

I knew what a gas hog I was getting!!! :) just was surprised with the drop and got a little concerned with the last tank...

I have been getting crap mileage lately. Mostly because in town I idle the truck a bit so it's warm when I get in (I have remote start). When I got my truck back in early October I was getting 16 city and tops around 19 mpg. The winds here in Wyoming/Colorado are brutal in the winter months so I get crappy MPG when going 70 mph. Hoping I see an improvement in the spring/summer.

Of topic, but rural Maine, eh? I absolutely love the North Maine woods, Millinocket area, Baxter, etc. Talking to the gate keepers of the NMW is always fun--super friendly people. Without a doubt my favorite place.

I like seeing the occasional pickup with a business name lettered onto the side, followed by "T9R2, Maine". So rural there aren't even town names! I grew up in rural Western MA in a town that didn't have a post office, gas station or any stores, so I guess it's hard-coded into me at this point to love that and hate cities.

the argument about new v8s getting great mpg is not valid. Ive had a 5.3 crew cab silverado, mixed hwy and city and it got 12.8. 500 mile road trip, all highway, unloaded, it got about 16. Friends f150 ecoboost v6 platinum edition for about 15 -16 city, 19-20 highway. 2016 dodge durango r/t with cylinder deactivation and eco mode, 360 horse hemi gets 12 mpg city, about 21 highway. I dont care what they are rated at, you never get what its rated for. When you put them in the busy city like i live in in southern california, you get shit for mpg. Hell....our 2014 ford fusion se with 180 hp 4 cylinder gets 17mpg in the city

my 6 cylinder tacoma is a few inches shorter than a full size crew cab silverado. If i lived at the grandparents house in indiana on the farm where there are no stop signs or traffic lights, then yea i would expect better mpg than the 15.5 im getting. maybe 17 or 18, but....its a truck oh well

'Wicked' nice is this neck of the woods. My town does have a name, all 1000 of us, but I live just a couple gallons of gas away from some of the unnamed townships you talk about.

If you get 16-16.8 in a purely stock truck you either do lots of stop'n'go driving or have a lead foot.

I get approx 15 MPGs in my truck and it's definitely not stock. Mostly highway driving.

there is a light every couple hundred feet here. as soon as you get to the speed limit, time to start braking for traffic or the next light

    City living FTL :(

Montana roads tend to have fewer stop lights. Especially on the 55mph, 70mph, and 75mph roads. LOL

seeing as I am 3 miles from the beach, 1.5 hours from the snow, 4 hours from the lake, i wouldnt trade living here for anywhere else. I lived in kentucky for awhile and it was fine, but doesnt compare to out here IMO

Yes I do a ton of stop and go city and highway speeds of 70/75. I have a lead foot, hence why I am not complaining on my Milage overall, but rather the sharp drop last tank.

    Too few to list.
Just did a 260 mile trip with elevations ranging from 1K to 4K+ and 4-7% grades. Going between 65-70mph and ultragauge was showing 22.3 average mpg. Fill-up calculations is within .2 of ultraguage. I'm running 265/75R16 Duratracs. Mixed city/hwy, I get around 16-17.

Totally stock here also. 2010 Dbl OR. I drive most of the time between 75-80 on the freeway, keep the stock size and type tires at 35psi, keep up on scheduled maintenance, don't keep stuff in the bed, and drive up and down hills each day. I get about 17.5 - 18.9 consistently. I'm probably a little heavier on the foot than I should be. Check the air filter.
