Belts squeeling when it rains

My belts squeek everytime it rains and it does it at least until the truck gets warm, sometimes longer. I just read a thread about the oil pump going bad and it's got me thinking. I'm just wondering if a 2005 with 27,000 miles on it should need belts or what I should do... Any help would be greatly appreciated!

the belt is original?if so i would change it first.

 

I bought the truck 6 months ago with 16,000 miles on it so it's definately original. I was thinking it was the belts showing their age but the oil pump thing freaked me out...

 

yeah,i seen that thread,anything is possible but i have never heard of a 4.0 doing that.

 

I have almost the same truck as you with the same amount of miles. I just went through the morning squeak issue with my 4.0 V-6

First thing you want to do is go buy a Goodyear Gatorback Belt Part# is #4070834 http://www.goodyearep.com/productsdetail.aspx?id=3128 if you have the V-6 4.0 engine...Can get it from Autozone

Your belt is 5 years old. Your belt has grease,grime,road dirt salt etc.... and this will cause squeak noise in the morning or when damp outside

While you have the belt removed your gonna wanna inspect all your idler pulley's and also the Belt tensioner pulley. Spin them and wiggle them, make sure they don't make noise when you spin them. Make sure they don't have excessive play in the bearings.

While inspecting my pulley's I found that the upper idler pulley,the small pulley between the power steering pulley and water pump was bad. it had excessive amount of play in the bearing.

So I removed it and replaced with a Gates Pulley Part#36173 Torque the pulley bolt to 29 Ft. Lbs.

If all your pulley's look ok your just gonna need the Gatorback Belt from Goodyear

Trust me you get what you pay for when it comes to belts, spend the extra couple bucks and get a good quality belt

you could try getting a can of belt conditioner and spraying it on the belt. That will clean it and stop sqealing. But if the belt is showing signs of cracking, it's time to replace it.

I recently replaced the timing belt on my 06 jeeb liberty diesel. Was supposed to do it at 160 km but left it till 230 km. When we opened it up, the belt was like new. I wondered why I was even doing it but went ahead an did it and both idler pulleys anyway for acost of about $700.
