For years we have manufactured our winch mount that mounts in the factory bumper cover for the 05-11, 12-15 and are working on the 16+ as we speak.

    12-15: https://www.usoffroad.us/store/bumpers/tacoma-2012-15-winch-mount-bumper/
    05-11: https://www.usoffroad.us/store/bumpers/tacoma-05-11-winch-mount-bumper/

We have combo packages with winches for both: https://www.usoffroad.us/store/bumpers/winch-mounts/combo-packages/

Interesting, since the Maxsa ones are half the price. I need to pick some up.

Maxtrax stack the best, traction jacks store the best, treds shovel the best, Maxsa just work... they are all different. Ill be posting up some in depth analysis, videos, and wear patterns.

Can you drill out a spot on the bumper for a bumper mounted air compressor chuck ?
    The bumper looks great !

It's just steel... I wouldn't see why not. Lots of our customers do custom mods to our bumpers for various reasons.

Proper tires, some sand, and 4wd would have been sufficient to get you out of there.....although proper tires and 4wd would have prevented you from getting stuck in the first place.

From the looks of it you gave it to much gas while turning out and looped it. Driving school might be the best mod for you if that's what happened. :boink:

I couldn't imagine living in an area like that and NOT having a 4wd. o_O

I bought a 2WD because on my daily commute I'll NEVER need 4wd.

I'm living about 15 minutes south of Portland man I feel your pain! With my 4x4, I am not having nearly as much trouble with the ice up here. It's my first year here and I'm very thankful I went with the 4x4 option (The KBRO2s are also useful imo )

Getting down the hill was a zero pedal pressure situation as I didn't have much choice in the matter (The truck is pointed at my driveway, which I'm standing on in the photo). Getting back up was just a matter of work. I have quite a bit of experience driving on ice having grew up in Michigan and living in Alaska for a while. Just wasn't in the cards today ;)

Several people have mentioned using cat litter for traction. I thought that was an old wives' tale. Have any of you actually used it? And was it effective? Clumping or non-clumping? I've been carrying around 50 lb bags of sand from Lowes. I know that has worked for me in the past. Also, good for weighing down the bed of the truck.

It works quite well, though I haven't used it for this purpose in years. It's generally a good thing to have around... Soaks up spills and leaks nicely too.

Non-clumping cat litter will perform similar to sand

That's what gas stations, and incident management uses to clean up gas spills..

When there is an accident on the freeway, incident management puts cat litter on all the spots where fluid leaked from cars.

In regards to the Tacoma thing, I've never actually got a 4x4 Tacoma stuck. 4 LOW has got me out of some pretty derp moments.
