FS: fully optioned Leer 180 for DCSB

I have decided to list my Leer 180 for sale.
Located in El Paso, TX.

This shell was purchased in 2012 by the PO (original owner) of my '12 Tacoma. My truck has ~85k miles on it and this shell has been along for the ride from around the 12k mile mark. I have personally put 50k miles on the truck since purchasing it and have experienced zero issues with this shell. I was told by the PO that the roof was factory reinforced and the HD DeWalt load bars installed to accommodate a rooftop tent. I have mounted my RTT on this shell at least a dozen times and it holds the tent, plus two adults no problem. This shell is stout and well-built. I have added a few improvements to make the shell more practical and secure (listed below).

Cosmetically it's in great shape. There are two small scratches on the roof that I painted with OEM Superwhite touch-up paint a couple years ago. I wax my truck every few months and the shell gets the full treatment as well.

Here's a brief rundown of the specs:

Leer 180 (for DCSB)

Factory options:
-Painted Superwhite 040 from Leer
-reinforced roof with factory installed DeWalt (rebadged Thule feet, removable towers, and bars). I flipped the towers around to accommodate the mounting tracks of my RTT - they can easily be flipped 180* around back to their original orientation. I also added a reference mark to each bar with a silver Sharpie. These marks help me quickly center my tent when installing it. Some rubbing alcohol and a rag would remove them in a heartbeat.
-four extra Thule T-slot bolts/nuts for additional load bar accessories
-carpeted headliner
-tilting sliding front window
-screened side sliding windows with reinforced pet mesh barriers
-double T-handle rear window (with two keys), gas shocks are a little over a year old
-LED clear lens CHMSL
-LED interior light
-4x bed rail mounts (no C-clamps to snag cargo)

Modifications by me:
-marine grade LED light strip (work light) on rear window frame. This light is very bright. All connnections are soldered and sealed with marine grade heat shrink tubing. The light is switched via the OEM Leer interior light switch.
-Weatherpack (OEM quality water proof connector) wiring harness quick disconnect. I will build a 3' Weatherpack pigtail for the buyer for a seamless install.
-longer mounting bolts with nuts/lock washers on the bottom of the Leer bed rail mount. I added these after noticing the shorter bolts from Leer were loosening every few thousand miles. The nuts act like locknuts and keep the mounts securely fastened. I also added a large fender washer to the top of each bolt to better distribute the load.
-free Moab, Utah and Southeast Overland decals

* ARB Safari Drawers, Fridge, and AT Overland Jerry Can holders not included.

I'll also add that this shell is water tight and the inside of my bed is dry as a bone - even during torrential downpours. I added a strip of 3M weather stripping to the rear door frame and will include a brand new roll of double bulb seal weather stripping with the sale so the new owner can seal the shell tight.

What is the door height clearance?

How easy is it to restrain another color?

 

Any body shop should be able to respray it for a few hundred bucks at most. I know many on here have done it.

Sorry, I was looking at the leer website and it has a 5' 4 inch option so I assumed there were two short bed options for the 2014 tacoma. I didnt want to make a 300 mile detour on my way to AZ to find out it wouldnt fit.

I believe this shell is the Leer 5'4" version you mentioned above. The data plate in the inside of the shell reads 64":

 

Yes . I have the TRD Sport Shortbed. The inside length of my bed measures 60" .

I like the tilting front window, that's one thing that always bugged me about campers, not being able to get in there to clean the windows. If it was MGM I'd make an offer and take a ride out from Houston to get it. Other than color that's pretty much exactly what I need. I know a respray is an option but it sort of makes it not as good of a deal for me.

Nice, that didn't take long! So @yonah why did you sell? Are you going with a different top, bed rack, tonneau, selling the truck?

I actually ordered my top today. I just got tired of waiting around and searching for the right color and options. Yours was pretty close to what I wanted.

I was pretty settled on a Leer 180 but I ended up going with a Leer 100XQ just because it looks so damned good. I got the removeable front window and the Thule rack system like yours.

Now it's just a waiting game.

 

Keeping the Tacoma - I love the vehicle.

I've always liked the look and functionality of the Snugtop Rebel (mainly the pillbox-style vented windoors and the overall lines of the shell). Unfortunately, I lived on the East Coast, so Snugtop wasn't an option. I also got tired of constantly searching the secondhand market for - what we're to me - compromises. I just moved to TX and called my contact, who is a Snugtop dealer, and placed an order for a Rebel with all of the options. My goal is to keep the rooftop tent mounted for at least six months of the year, so I opted for the Sportsman's Package with Yakima tracks. The cab height Rebel is a compromise in headroom and storage capacity when compared to the 180, but the lower profile will help with roof load aerodynamics and I like the look.
