Before I begin, I have used the search field in the upper right and found nothing, but it is possible I'm using incorrect search words.

There's only 1 thing I dislike on my Taco. I don't like the fact that I cannot unlock the doors from the passenger front door like you can with driver door with the smart key. I can do this on my wife's Prius and I could do it on my old Rav, but not the Taco.

Is it possible to add this feature?

    *****UPDATE*****

Here is a link to where @Victory did a write up on how to do it. Great work.

That's not what he's asking. Yes, you can configure it to unlock both doors or the driver side door WHEN you unlock the driver side door. You can not do this from the passenger side and there is no option to add it.

No worries. I had it on my 4Runners and wondered why they didn't do it on the Tacoma also.

Theoretically, you could get a replacement driver's side door handle with the sensors, replace the passenger door with it and tap the wires into the original harness... Don't think it would be worth the hassle or cost to not have to click a button...

I agree, not sure why Toyota mis matches some of their best features. My Corolla can unlock all the doors from the passenger side and has better headlights, but none of this on tacoma..

I didn't think there would be a easy way to do it, but just thought I see what others may know. It's annoying that I can't, but it's not a deal breaker for me.

It just surprises me they skipped this on a high 30k truck, but have it on their other cars.

This is one feature that actually drives me nuts... I am often grabbing gear from the passenger side of the vehicle and having a button on that side would be great. Honda Civic's even have that. $40K should get you this along with leather and power seats and HID's.

Was curious if anyone has had the dealer do this? Or if I dealer would even take this on as an install if someone wanted it done? This is my only pet peeve about my Tacoma.....what there are not smart handles on both sides of the truck. My kid calls them magic handles. lol

The driver handle would be upside-down on the passenger side. May not fit that way.

I love my truck, but here's my nitpickiness coming from a 2013 VW cheap tdi.

    1. Windshield wipers stay going fast even when at complete stop, VW slowed down when stopped, but any movement returned to normal.
    2. passenger door lock, edit: also if I tapped the inner handle it only unlocked drivers door or passengers door, two taps and all doors unlocked. very neat feature where on tacoma it's an all or none in the settings.
    3. radio volume on start up is same when cut off, damn I may have been jamming when i got out last.
    4. auto windows all around

Now if I wanted to name everything I love the list would be much longer, so i live with these minor stipulations.

So you're saying you want the truck to arbitrarily change the radio volume away from something you specifically set it to every time you start it? That would just piss me off.

you misunderstood, it's not arbitrary, you would set the start up volume lets say 15, so when you cut your truck off and it was at 40 or 45 really anywhere on the next start up it will be at 15.

Which would piss me off. I'd want it left where I set it.

so if you got out listening at 50 you want it back at 50 when you get back in just so you can turn it down really quick because your ears haven't adjusted to the volume..

geez it's a matter of opinion, no hostility. I'm just saying it's a feature they could have had to turn on or off, like VW had back when the mk6 golf came out.

i've just made it a habit of turning the radio down when I'm about to get out so that I'm not bombarded with whatever the radio is playing when I start up.
