is it just me or does the glass on these trucks seem to attract water like a tractor beam, especially the windshield! It sucks!!!
In even the slightest rain or mist, it seems like the drops just spread out as thin and distorting as possible (I know water is naturally attracted to glass). It just seems like I have to run my wipers a lot. I'm coming from a 2014 Mazda 3 and the rain hitting that windshield couldn't wait to bead and run off the glass like it was afraid of it. And I never treated the surface. I could drive however fast as I was comfortable with in the most torrential rain and barely have to take my wipers off the slowest intermittent, as the drops were gone as fast as they hit the glass.
Plus bugs might as well be epoxied to the truck windshield. They require an act of God to get them off. And again, my Mazda seemed to shed most bugs and the ones that did splat were easily washer sprayed and wiped away.
Any thoughts on the comparison and or tips on how to alleviate the problem are most welcome!!

Yea that's why in science class when u have water in a test tube and they told u to measure from the bottom of the meniscus because it looks like the water is trying to crawl up the sides of tube. It has a natural affinity

I bought some. Haven't done it yet. Never really heard how good or how long it lasts. But just was curious why there would be such a difference in behavior and what the cause might be.

I have never driven a Mazda 3. But in my experience I don't find the water sticking to the windshield to be any different then other vehicles. Maybe your Mazda was treated with some water repellant.

Ya'll using lot of them fancy words. Minicuss, them fighten words.

I noticed that depending on what carwash I go to, it changes the way the water clings to the class and body.

The timing of this thread is pretty funny as I just finished using glass stripper on my 2017 and WOW what a difference. Dealers tend to use a lot of wax products in their wash water to make them look shiny on the lot. The downside is the windshield gets coated with the stuff and mine had a ton of water spots and stuff stuck. I finally had to use a glass stripper that contains a mild abrasive that will not scratch the glass. The wipers work amazing and the water sheets off now vs smear. Lots of YouTube videos on cleaning the windshield. Good luck.

I'm glad I opted for the windshield wiper package. I couldn't imagine going through what you're experiencing. Might want to trade your truck in and grab one with that package asap!

    lol the sarcasm.

OP polymer compounds like RainX, if applied correctly, work so good that you usually won't even need wipers at highway speed in heavy rain... in fact i find the wipers disrupt my vision more, and those compounds just bead up the rain and the wind carries it right off, no smearing, distortion, or sticking. it's great in clean rain above say 40mph, but not helpful with muddy water and stuff like that.

any of you like other compounds more than RainX? it's the only one i've tried.

This is so true, often wipers dirupt view more than the rain streaming off. The car wash I use has a RainX option that I always get so it's the only thing I have ever used and love it.

Like someone else said rain x is amazing just after it is applied. Don't even need wipers at highway speeds. The problem I have with it is living in colorado whenever it is wet the water that gets on your car is DIRTY and I find the rain x wears off in about a week :frusty:

also my experience in CO winters. i found that about once a month or so i'll apply RainX liquid with a rag. then weekly i'll use RainX spray for a touchup, and that got me through the CO weather no issues. now down here in NTX i can probably get away with a single application of the liquid and maybe one or two touchups for the whole rest of the winter using the spray.

I guess no one understands that a less angled piece of glass will not repel water as easily as a more sloped one?

I used a product by "No-Touch". It was just called glass stripper. Says it removes silicone, road grime, hard water spots, etc.
