I'm curious to something i've been eyeing on one of my dash panels. It's the one to the left of the remote start. It has a few small slots like a microphone panel, but after removing it there is nothing behind it. It does have some foam around the back edge, but what is this? Here's a google pic, it's to the left of the start button, you can see the slots. I have bluetooth, but assume that mic is the one in the overhead

Do you need to know, or care?
I always thought sensor for key fob, but IDK. Our Mazda has same thing in that spot, but no auto temp.

Ya, there's usually a plastic tube attached to the backside of the slots to measure inside air temp

Huh? It looks like you have climate control (your heat/AC knobs are the same as my OR) so you need the temp sensor that's behind those slots.

The heated seats have nothing to do with the climate control sensor, but honestly I'm not sure if all tacos have climate control, so I'll just shut up now. But most Japanese cars which have climate control have the sensor behind those slots ... maybe not right behind them, but in that area and the slots allow ambient air to reach the sensor.

You commented about my knobs looking like yours. My truck has basic knobs and nothing above them. The climate knob models also have the seat screens above them, i guess a package my truck did not come with. There is also nothing behind those slots. I wonder if they are prewired like second gens and I can add those things..
