    3.4L V-6 was driving fine then dies,cranks fine fires for a second then dies
    throttle body spacer plate ,cold air intake
    Hello and thxs... for the add
    My daily is a 2000 Taco/Pre-Runner 3.4L V-6
    Just the other day was driving truck just died,pulled
    over tried to restart the truck ,cranks just fine fires
    for a brief second ,just will not stay running ,any one
    have any ideas on where to start, P.S. weather is roughly
    20 degrees and cold air intake had fallen off,a good possibility
    dirt could have been sucked into intake

    x2. Do you have any codes showing? And take a look at the fuel pump if that isn't the issue.

    where did it fall off at? Dirt isnt going to affect it right away, but the tube has to be connected otherwise its not getting the correct pressure and will shut off.

    If just the CAI filter fell off I'd start by cleaning the MAP sensor. Make sure you use the proper cleaner (CRC makes a product specifically for this). If the filter and tube fell off I'd also check to see if the connector to the MAP sensor was damaged or had wires pulled out. You can test your MAP sensor with a multimeter while it's still on the vehicle. I don't have the FSM handy to tell you the test procedure or parameters but if you need them I can check.

    I'd also recommend checking the Idle Air Control Valve and the Throttle Position Sensor. The IACV caused this issue on an SC300 that I used to have and the TPS caused this issue on my Tacoma.

    Also, if you have to replace any of those three sensors I highly recommend getting OEM. I got less than 15k miles out of an Auto Zone TPS on my truck.
