Here is the cockpit of the sovereign I fly. It's a mid-2000's cockpit so everything looks even fancier now.

I took this photo for our company website.

...^^^... Personally ... I love the newer "super panels" for safety, convenience & etc. ... but the old panels do enhance your "basic flying skills & pucker factor".

Was referring to all the other "stuff" that gets managed in military airplanes while flying. You'd laugh at the number of time we get told to look outside more often.

...^^^... Yep, I understand that, especially with what you guys do.

Back in the day ... I lived on ... "outside visuals & sound & radio chatter" ... except in the rain & fog.

I don't know if I could do what you guys do today with all the electronics.

My max on electronics today is a good iPad mini and iPhone :)

Maybe that is why I gravitate back to the old biwings now.

So much simplier when you get older ... plus, I like "mechanical linkage" too. lol :)

I get to tow those around the airport here in Dallas a lot over the summer. I love how they sound as they fly over!

In other news, just surprised myself with a greaser landing 15 at Addison with winds 200@16G31. I was getting thrown around like a rag doll on final and was ready for a go-around at any second. I kept flaps at 10 and touched the right main first, held it for a second and then set down the other followed by the nose. Textbook touchdown even though I had the rudder petal pressed to the firewall :woot:

Anyone able to give their 2 cents on engine monitors? Specifically, the Insights G4 or the EI CGR-30p. If you have something else that you think I would like, feel free to throw it up. It has to have a color display though.
