What's the mindset here? What kind of driving do you usually do?

...^^^... I love the M3's and M4's ... but they drop in value fairly fast. I saw a cool M4 yesterday in an electric green color .. really different.

I had one of the first M-Roadsters (estorial blue) when they came out over 15 years ago and loved that car ... IIRC, real duals all the way back off a 6 cylinder too ... :burnrubber:

Either driving to school and back,
mostly just driving to school. But every road here is either curvey canyon roads or dirt

I really would love the z3 m coupe, Estoril blue, but they've gone up too much in value

    Anyone seen my wallet?
I would save to get an m car later, keep the taco to daily.

I had a cobb tuned 135i that was by far my favorite car ever. When it was tboned and totaled I shopped for another 135, a 235, and an m3. I decided to get a taco, when i get my next bmw, i dont want it on the road everyday. I put 100k miles on the bmw in the few yrs that i owned it, it wouldnt have last much longer probably, will treat the next one better.

M3s don't do that well on dirt. Tacomas do okay on the street.

The bmw would in turn get some apex wheels, cage, and half cage if I went that route

I sold my E46 M3 for a Tacoma. I loved that car, but it's very high maintenance. Also, you have to worry about Vanos, SMG pump and subframe failures.

The M3 is an amazing machine. 6 Speed is the way to go if you're going to do it. The e46 can be had for a very reasonable price now.
It's a shame about the e36/8, especially the '01-'02 with the S54, some of them are selling for nearly double their new prices (worth it). Check out mcoupebuyersguide.com and z3coupebuyersguide.com there may be a good deal to be had there. Jon has my old 3.0i coupe as a project car right now. They are so much fun to drive.

My advice is to buy what fits your needs. If you want an M3, buy it. Life is short and worse case you can ALWAYS go back to a Tacoma.
