First, I'm a bicycle guy. Until I bought this damn truck, I've been exclusively a bicycle guy. Shit, my shoes say "BIKE LIFE" (NikeID Internationals)

But, I'm also a motorcycle guy... I can talk all about motorcycles until the cows come home. Grew up on them. Own 3.

Anyway, one day I drove through a puddle in a 99' Corolla and it couldn't hang. Engine light started flashing and mis-fires for all. Decided I needed a truck. Wen't online and saw something that looked visually appealing to me as a truck. That was a used 08 Tacoma prerunner.

Bought it. I was super excited to plow through the puddle that kicked the Corolla's ass, but someone had cleared the drains after the 40 hours it takes to buy buy a vehicle from a dealer and it was gone..

All that said, I'm a truck noob. I don't know what I have since I'm not familiar with these things. I'm the sort who modifies what they have to make it what they want, thus being here.

I would be surprised if the two previous owners haven't posted/bragged here.

I've got a Taco. Says so on the side! It's got a Volant CAI and big-ass tires. It's fun and comfortable as shit to pilot. Pretty sure it's lifted and my motorcycle experience tells me these Icon suspension bits aren't stock. There's an engine skidplate (or whatever they're called - but I gotta be close?).

I love this truck. I've gained probably 10lbs since I got it because I'm not riding my bicycle to work anymore. Let's talk about rack options - anyone have OEM rails for sale?

Bugged the shit outta me that the headlights and fogs weren't the same color. I hate blue headlights. Those went. Wen't LED fog lights, and swapped all the interior lighting to LED. Had to buy key fobs. WTF is that open shut on/off BS to program??

So I look forward to working with ya'll. More to do. It's not dirty enough. I'm not a truck guy, but I love this truck. I'm taking the floss to the "taco" tomorrow, but I'm curious what else I've got as it's clearly not all stock...

Hilarious first post. I like the humor! :)

Take a couple photos of the wheel well so we can take a gander at the goods.

You have an All-Pro skid plate in your first photo. Kinda hard to see what else you have.

For a little over a hundred-ish more, you can pick up a well-designed PrInSu rack instead of factory rails.

    Welcome aboard!

Given the bike life and the photos, are you in the PNW?

Welcome, you got some good parts on that truck to start with. For the human powered bikes what do you ride. I've got a gravel grinder and 29er trail bike.

So it looks like you got a pretty good truck to take through that water puddle. A bit over kill if you ask me, you should be taking that through some mud holes!

Looks like you may have an off road edition of the truck. If so then you have a stock 4 wheel drive and a rear differential locker. A locker is good to have when climbing a hill, or if you are flexed out and one of your rear tires isnt spinning even though you are in 4 wheel drive. Just do not drive around with it on, only when you need it, then turn it back off.

That Volant CAI intake is not cheap! They are pretty sweet and do add some HP to your ride. Some people may tell you that a snorkel is better though, argument is that you are getting colder air from outside the engine bay, and a snorkel is more functional...

Also the icon suspension is popular with the tacomas. Lots of people run them, if you have the remote reservoirs Icons then you will get lots of likes on here. Check for after market upper control arms also. Usually they get replaced with a lift on these trucks.

Rims look like fuel, which are also very popular. Black is always a nice choice. Tires look nice too!

All in all nice truck man! Now go find another "puddle" to drive through! Just make sure you take pictures while doing it!

eh, was it that obvious? I'm in Portland (looks like you are too)!

Mostly Surly's. I have a couple of Cross Checks and a Pacer - couple old Peugeot's I like to tear around on. Been looking into getting into the 29er space and do more trails and crap. I like to think having the truck will make this easier and give me a better excuse to buy a Krampus or Monkey.
Thanks! I've been looking for places to get dirty, but I've honestly no idea where to start.

Here's a shot of the wheel well:

You have a very nice suspension on that truck.

I like Surlys, I wanted a pug when I still lived up North.

    Pretty active local group here!

And yep... you have a nice suspension setup already. Icons and Camburg UCAs are a nice match!

How many miles on your rig?

    Just breaking it in!

I was asking for mileage because your coilovers may be due for a rebuild.

With that setup... I wonder if someone on here was the previous owner that could fill you in!

What the hell's going on here? These lights are super blue, and I want something more white since I've replaced all the bulbs with LEDs already... Went to have a look and saw this weird shit

    EDIT: HID kit. Hmm.

Guys, the puddle came back! I know this is risky business in a prerunner given the 2wd and all, but I'm happy about it.

I was also able to successfully haul a 9' xmas tree! Who knew a 2wd could be so capable...

Heh, had I not liked this truck my next stop was the Honda dealer. The Ridgeline just doesn't have the flair I thought it did now.

Ha, well it's my ladies car so it'll be sticking around until it does. Really can't stand the thing myself. I just don't fit in it well (I'm 6'1") and it's white... But, we got it for free, so there's that.
