Breaking parts on a trail isn't fun , after a few times breaking parts I started carrying extras of these failure prone parts . I could change out an axle shaft in maybe 30-45 min on the side of a trail . axle shafts , hubs , drive flanges and suspension parts were the norm

I remember about 20 or so years ago grenading a rear axle on the trail , luckily I had a full floater rear with locking hubs . Just unlocked the hubs and drove out in front wheel drive

After a few times breaking parts due to shock loading the drivetrain I decided to regear my jeep to crawl easier . I put a GM SM 465 granny 4spd with 6.54 1rst gear , regear the t/case with a 3.50 low range and with the 5.38 gears in the axles I was at 123.1:1 low range

With this new gearing I could crawl sloooowly

You're having more fun than me. I just have a blood draw for labs...see if that A1C dropped to an acceptable level or if I have to totally give up food and just eat grass.

I call that eating what food eats.... Atkins does work and works well. Believe it or not eating a half pound of bacon in the morning and 4 eggs then a steak every night gets old after awhile though. Well maybe not the bacon part. It is hard to stay on it but if I do everything comes into sync and all tests are in target range.

When I was in college in the mid 70's as an Engineering student if you were good in English it was also thought maybe you might be a little light in the loafers, if you know what I mean. But no one could understand Engineers so they made us double up on English classes, what a PITA. After awhile I attacked English like an Engineering problem and it got a little better. I caught that to too too... But heaven forbid if anyone ever graded my English and spelling LOL.

As a pit snipe in the Navy I did very well. B cuz i Noot on ly cud reed I cud Rite to...

Ain't that the truth! Well I cheated and was a Nuc to start with. In Nuc school went to Daytona Beach one weekend and met 2 girls from Tn. and a week later ran out of money and they did too so went back to the base in Orlando. Of course they busted me at Captains mast and threw me out of the program. The Captain said that I was unreliable and undependable and pulled my clearances. The Chief that defended me said Sir I think there are 2 ladies from Tn. that would argue the dependable and reliable part. I knew then that I wanted to be a Chief when I grew up :) Although don't want to ever grow up...
