Why exactly would life long fans of the defending champs need "help"?

Preface: This is not a troll post and there is no implied sarcasm in this post at all:

How do y'all pick your favorite NFL team? Have you always been a fan of your current fav, or do you switch from time to time? Do you root secondhand for other franchises, or are you dedicated to one team? Are you all NFC or AFC or no? When debating your favorite team's weekly performance, do you refer to your team as "We" as though you are on payroll? I see this a lot in the locker room and it seems odd to hear all the "we" talk among dudes.

I haven't followed the NFL since I was a kid. I quit watching college ball years ago because I think college players should be paid for their sacrifice to their schools. I don't have time to be an avid fan of anything new right now. That is to say buying merch, tickets, tuning in for games, keeping up with stats. I think ESPN is shit tv. Still, I figure I should at least be familiar with the modern game.

Side note: I'm not new to football. As a high school defensive end, I lost three teeth to the game.

I understand that part of being enthusiastic about a sport is having a team to root for. As a casual fan, I don't have any interest in being a bandwagon guy. Example: a new NASCAR fan who "always pulled for Jimmie Johnson." I'm not going to roll into pro ball saying I've always like the Patriots, Broncos or Seahawks (though I did secondhand pull for the 'Hawks in elementary school). I'm looking for a real lost cause to pull for here. I'm sure many longtime franchise fans could say that's mostly any team at some point in time. Being a fan of design and aesthetics, the logo/helmet design is key. I like old-school looking stuff; not too busy (see: Houston) or too soft design (see: Miami). I like basic, complimentary colors. I don't like many of the modernized (post-'98) updated logos. When I was a kid, I wasn't an NFC fan, (save for Barry Sanders & the Lions) so I've narrowed my options down to AFC teams. I've further narrowed the list down to the Chiefs, Chargers or the Bills. I see the Chiefs are doing pretty well at 10-3 this season, so they're out. The Chargers are 5-8 and I've always liked their old-school white helmets. Junior Seau was a hoss when I was a kid. Unfortunately, the Chargers are on the other side of the continent, so they're out. So I'm left with the Buffalo Bills. I'm pretty sure they haven't done anything since I was in elementary school, except that flash in the pan season with Doug Flutie. Man were they almost something back in the day? Jim Kelly & Thurman Thomas were something back when the Sears Wishbook was still a thing. They like cold. I like cold. They're 6-7 this season. I can get behind a losing record. The bar is low moving forward, so there's room for progress. So yeah, I think I'm going to pull for the Bills.

Is Jim Kelly your spirit animal? Do four lost Super Bowls in a row do it for you? If so, you picked well.

 Hence the "Almost something back in the day" comment. Seriously though, I've been away from the game for so long. I'm interested in coaching philosophy and the modern game. I've read Rex Ryan is a defense oriented coach. I was a defensive player in high school. I've also read he has a foot fetish. I don't, but hey, the coach is a Freak, so that's cool.

Giants are the only team to beat Cowboys. Twice. Interesting.

Cowboys are grossly overrated. The best team they beat was the packers.

Why do you not support the team of your city/state? Your area reads you live in Georgia so why don't you support the Falcons? If you're not a Georgia native support your native team or nearest franchise. You mention color schemes, lost causes and cold weather teams to support but not the Falcons???
I don't recognise any 'fan' of an NFL team not from their home city/state.

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
Doesn't help we have a qb that forgets to play football in the second half.

Denver, Tennessee/Houston, Baltimore, and Miami are all going to be fighting for the #6 seed in the AFC. Indianapolis has a chance. I'm assuming that KC or Oakland will get #5.

It would be cool to see Miami or Tennessee in the playoffs, get some new blood in there along with Oakland.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I grew up watching the Joe Montana/Jerry Rice connection as a kid. That's why I'm a Niner's fan even though I live in BFE PA.

    Morning.

Ravens fan here... (no need to apologize lol)

Do I want the Ravens to win tonight to stay a top the division? Yes
Do I have faith in the Ravens to beat the Patriots tonight? No.... But I hope it's at least a close game
Do I think Flacco is a good/great QB? Nope.. Last week was a fluke lol

With that said Let's Go Ravens! Beat the Patriots tonight :)

(I'm not a fair weather fan. Just nervous every damn game since I don't trust Flacco at all lol)
