Using torque pro with the fuel economy plugin.. How accurate do you suppose this is?

I've got 285/70R17 116T Terra Grappler G2's and a CAI, so I expected a little less than its reading.

    it probably aint accurate.

Best way. Top off, reset trip meter. Drive. next fill up top off, look at trip meeter, add 7.01% for your larger tire size (multiply trip meter by 1.0701) then divide by gas put in.

Use GPS or mile markers over at least 50 miles to see what your odometer error really is, and it is probably different from what your speedometer error is. As mentioned above, then calculate mpg based on gallons used.

Is torque pro adjustable for odometer error?

^ This. Nothing else means dick.

I have an Ultra Gauge which I've calibrated to compensate for that percentage my tires throw off my Odometer/Speedometer. Because it is distance/speed calibrated it's fairly close in how it reports my MPGs. But it's not perfect.

I stopped giving a shit after a while though. Doesn't matter how I drive I can't do better than 15-15.5MPGs with my rig anymore. LOL

Good to know, thanks. I'm not the type to be finicky about gas prices either since it really doesn't matter...

A lot of us drive lifted trucks with upsized tires, I don't think MPG is a concern lol!

lol, definitely not concerned - I knew mpg wasn't great on a stock truck going in. But I get curious about things.

My only concern with driving a lifted a truck, is gaining back the HP I lost, hopefully looking to fix that with replacing the gears.

Why not just fill up (don't top off), reset tripometer, drive, fill up again, divide miles on tripometer by total gallons on the receipt.

It's not the lift that steals HP. It's the over sized tires and up-armor that causes the loss in felt HP.

Is there anything folks are doing on the ECU side of things to improve mpg? Not likely something I'd fuss with unless I was on a road trip or something.

You can if you have stock size tires... otherwise you need to add in the miles your odometer didnt record due to the larger tires, hence 7.01% for 285/75R16's vs 265/70r16's

    Nope. They are pretty tinker-proof.

You're telling me. I'm pretty sure if my truck drove off a cliff and was free falling with the engine off for 300 miles I'd still manage just 15.5mpg.

It is. I played with the speed multiplier a bit, but it seems any adjustment there makes it way off. It also has an MPG trim which I've entered 0.071 based on nd4spdbh's suggestion above and it's looking a lot more like I expected it to.

I'll try to remember to keep my receipt next time I fill up. That's the hard part. Gadgets are a lot cooler than paper receipts and math to me lol.
