I got the frame replaced on my 2003, single cab 4wd in a timely manner by local dealer. All went well. When I picked up the truck and got in the first thing I noticed was the emergency brake was extended about 13 inches out (when I brought it in it was about 5) and said this isn't right. They pretty much back and forth'd and moved me on my way telling me if it is a problem bring it back in a week. lol.
So I decided to wait a week and make an appointment to have it done correctly. Now when I picked it up the Service person also told me I should change the power steering lines in the future. What I found it now they are leaking bad and it is hard to tell from where it is coming. They did not leak before I brought it in and Service is telling me it is my problem.
I set up an appointment in a couple of days at least for the e-brake and to argue with the Service Manager. What do you guys think, I'm pissed off.

Thanks. That would certainly add strength to my argument, but I have to do this now. I'm going back the day after tomorrow. I know the lines are old, but I had no leaks at all before the work.

If I lose the argument and I need to buy new lines does anybody have a good source, I have looked at Rockauto and eBay (seems cheapest)

    Thanks.

Just be happy they replaced your frame. You are doing a disservice to the Toyota community by bitching about the little things they "may" have messed up. Should they fix the problems that have popped up? Yes! But for the next guy that has frame rust and would like Toyota to replace their frame..........you are screwing that person over big time.
You should be ecstatic they honored their warranty. Move on......

    CD20H,
So you say they should fix it and at the same time I'm screwing someone else who is going to get their frame replaced? That makes no sense. Thanks for the input.

Unless you paid for the frame out of pocket, I say you should fix it and be damn happy that you got a $6000 frame installed for FREE.

    ...we'll get there.
I'd say make sure the issues are taken care of. you're not screwing over the next guy by making sure the work is done right. they're not going to stop replacing frames because you take them to task on this.

you might be in for some he said/she said...but if i were the service dept i would have documented known issues. otherwise when things are put back together the assumption is that things are in good working order.

toyota replacing known-to-be-defective frames doesn't negate the dealer's responsibility to do the swap right. they're not doing anyone any favors, they're fixing a known issue.

    From your post CD20H
"Should they fix the problems that have popped up? Yes!"

I paid for a truck already. The dealership makes big Money doing this work. The service guy told me he makes a weeks commission on this work. It was not broken before I brought it in. I am grateful Toyota made this deal. Enough said.

    .
They have a lot of liabilty changing a frame and should make you happy.

If they did the damage ... put your problems & concerns in WRITING and copy everybody as listed above.

    Good luck

He's not diservicing anyone. Toyota replaced a frame because they were negligent in providing a decent product for over ten years, not because they did him a favor. Get off your fuckin horse.

OP, if they messed up your parking break, they should fix it. Not sure about your lines, but to think that if they messed something up for fixing a problem caused by their negligence IS YOUR FAULT, and you should get over it, then I'd hate to see how ol Ben up there would run a business. (Spoiler alert: He'd run that shit in the ground.)

    Stupidest argument/advice ever!

Hold them accountable for what they broke, new frame or not.

I have a full shop full of tools and lift. Repairing the e brake and power steering hoses would take me a half a day. So it would be a easy fix and not worth the effort of going back to the dealership that honored the frame replacement. I have don't have a horse....I have tools and the ability to do things and know when to be grateful for things.

And you wonder why so many dealerships will not replace frames.

Congrats on your tools, dude. Not every member of this site has the know-how, nor should they even have to if they themselves didn't cause the problem. Report back when you understand.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Power steering lines break (actually a lot of shit can break) As long as the e-brake issue is resolved and you are otherwise happy and good to go with the truck, personally I would fork up, get those bitches replaced and call it a day

I somewhat agree with him on his point about fixing it himself, however, after doing so I'd bill them for my time and parts to fix their fuck up! But why bother if it was their doing? Plus they are more prone to fix the issue themselves before paying you to fix their fuck up.

What I would do is complain and write your letters of dissatisfaction. At worst you should pay for new lines but have them install them on their dime. That's more of a compromise.
