exactly. It is primarily a cosmetics package with upgraded shocks. Again, nothing that couldn't be out done by the aftermarket

    Simple economics.
OR is cheaper out of the gate leaving savings for modification.

    Pro is factory modified.

You'll spend a Pro's cost getting an OR to equivalent or greater capability/feature set, however, the Pro will retain far more value due to limited release and factory based modifications. You'll recover little to none of your aftermarket investment on your OR.

Dude quit hating on the Pro. We get you hate it for whatever reason and can't stand Toyota would offer it at such a premium.

I Don't hate it at all. I think it's a nice truck, however I do not think it's worth the price tag. Just my opinion.

34k for a high (similarly) equipped OR is a stretch.

Time is money. Not everyone self installs.
That's thousands in install/removal costs. Few do it and take the time to remove at trade in/sell, hope to negotiate the mods in, then settle at kbb or less.

Pro's limited release will allow it to remain a LOT more relative resale rape value.

Bottom line, OR is a cheaper but less returning investment.

Are you going to wait until 2018 when all the bugs are worked out? Is having a transmission replaced within the first year going to affect the trade in value? Are you hoping to get a model that does not exhibit the shift flare?

Stick with your truck. Unless you like all the little things that comes with the pro. I got a pro because I liked the color and it was couple thousand more than what someone paid for OR with minor mods from the dealer. I love my truck but I should've gotten another trim due to the mods I did to it. Smh.

For me, the suspension, heated leather seats, and cement color were enough to make it a no-brained choice.

It does not have JBL and it cannot be added, at least not according to the 2017 e-brochure. I didn't see the JBL logo in the Pro I looked at either, but didn't investigate beyond that.

I ordered my TRD OR because I didn't want toyota to stick on a bunch of junk to make it like the raptor. I'd rather do my own suspension mods.

When I bought mine three months ago I looked at the Pro to see if it was worth considering instead of the OR. With the dealer/port-install options I wanted on my Tacoma it'd have been $50,522 out the door (MSRP, non-negotiable at the time). Contrast to my OR which was $42,500 out the door (negotiated price). For that $8,000 difference my OR has cloth seats instead of leather(*), but does have the sunroof and JBL stereo I wanted but couldn't get in the Pro. That cash would buy a LOT of upgrades should I need them.

(*) I didn't much like the Pro leather seats "Pro" embroidery. The whole truck is a bit shouty on the "Pro" thing. I get that some people like it, but it's not my style.

Holy shit that's expensive. Why was your OTD so high? My Pro was 47000 OTD (43.9 and it had almost all the SET/port installed options), and I live in taxicecticut.

If you think you have to pay msrp for your options, that's a bad comparison. Dealers may not move on the price of a pro, but they will wiggle a lot on those addons. I basically paid sticker for the truck and they threw:
    -predators
    -tonneau
    -all weather mats
    -TRD filter
    -break glass
    - tailgate lock
    -bed leds
    -tint
    -nitro
    -4 years oil changes

    In for free...

In fairness I didn't specifically have them quote it, I mostly gave up on the Pro over the lack of JBL and sunroof, both things I wanted. At the time Pros went for MSRP at best, so that's what I used to come up with the figures. MSRP TRD Pro Auto $42,760. Add various SET options I wanted: tonneau ($849), Cargo Bed LED Lights $269, Roof Rack $399, LED Illumination Package $349, Dual USB Power Port Rear Seat Charge Station $119, Paint protection film package $598, Tailgate Power Lock $259, Wheel Locks $65. Total MSRP $46,617. Dealer fee of $600. Add 7% sales tax. Total OTD $50,522.19

Sure, I may be overestimating and maybe I could have negotiated the options down from their ridiculous MSRPs, but I doubt it at the time with how scarce Pros were. Today may be different of course. I did in fact get all that stuff on my OR (plus JBL and frameless autodimming homelink mirror), but at invoice pricing which made them it more palatable. For example the USB ports in the rear console were $65 invoice price installed vs. $40 for the part on ebay; $25 to let someone else install it and put it under factory 3/36 warranty was worth it.

    He's in Atlanta.

Here in the Atlanta area the Pro is apparently dealer coated in Unobtanium.

One local dealer has a white Pro that is MSRP at $48997 but they sacrificially give you a $3k "discount" off that so it's only $45997 before taxes and dealer rape fees.
