How many have heard this? Getting sick of it?

I've noticed lately almost everyone I work with when they find out I bought a tacoma first thing they say is why didn't you just buy a fullsize? Its the same price bla bla bla

Sure a lot of them are former GM guys (worked at the plant as maintenance electricians here) so many have GM or Chrysler sometimes fords too. All say the same thing.

All say the same shit like its a fuckin problem I wanted to buy a reliable truck, one that has a great reputation.
I want something for overlanding/camping and hunting. I wanted a rear locker (and not an auto locker like GM offers)
Sure I could've bought a full size for the same price if not less depending on which model, but I wanted something known for off roading.
I don't need the towing or payload of a full size nor do I care for having a car thats worth 1/3 of what it cost after 5 years.

The times I need a bed I will have it like for hauling drywall when doing home renos
Not pulling a boat or anything just my kayak on the roof, no need for a fullsize

While I agree with you 100%, as I own a Tacoma and a 4Runner, the price of a Tacoma just keeps going up and up. 2nd gen to 3rd gen went up 4-5k here in Canada.

I would contend that the reliability of the third gen has been somewhat questionable. The long term will tell the bigger story.

Something like 55 NHTSA complaints right now and climbing with the transmission and drive-train carrying the bulk of those issues. These are not merely "minor issues"

they have I agree. I paid just under 51K OTD.

But regardless you'd be amazed how many of them say the same shit to me as well, 'if you bought domestic we'd still have work at GM'

    Yup.

Other than a full-size, I could have also gotten:

    - two new Civics
    - a tractor
    - five hookers and at least half a kilo of cocaine
    - enough smarties to overdose and die
    - the biggest, most awesome waterslide ever (TOTALLy REGRET NOT DOING THIS.)
    - a trampoline to go along with the cocaine mentioned above

I got what I wanted, because I wanted it, and screw the idiots that try to impose their wants/needs on me.

I agree with you slightly on that. But when you consider the reputation tacomas have compared to the rep that f150s, sierras, and silverados have.

So they had a bad cps batch is why that chart. Whopee.
When these trucks turn 300K what's your excuse then ?

And the 2009 most reported complaints shown on that pic you posted were "radio goes off without warning".
Great site smutty. Informative data, not.

And until then that's speculation as well.

More than just CPS failures bud.

I had a 16 Tacoma for 3 months. Then I had enough of the lack of room and low end power. To me the Tacoma is a little over priced. They cost almost the same as what a tundra cost. I have a 16 4 runner if they would have made the Tacoma the same inside as the 4Runner it would have so much better. The leg room in the back of the new Tacoma is ridiculous.

The third gen may, or may not be shit quality compared to the earlier Tacomas (time will tell), but I'll put my money on the most unreliable Toyota before I put it on the most reliable domestic.

Oh totally agree with that statement! Any Toyota Truck is a better choice than other brand's trucks in that aspect (the ridgeline is not a truck).

yep exactly what helped me make my choice.

I wanted something for off road/camping
It came down to jeep wrangler or tacoma.
Tacoma I get the bed which really helps for side jobs and for home renos.
