Here's a question...how do the dimensions on a Modern Tacoma compare with what would have been a full-size truck like an F-150 of say the mid 1960s?

All this domestic bashing is ridiculous. The new ram trucks are very nice. Now I know if you beat them off road they might not hold up like a Tacoma. But for 95% of truck buyers they are very nice trucks. The features they have that Toyota doesn't are very nice and I miss them from my old ram that IMO for what I paid my 4Runner TE is lacking. I only keep a vehicle 3-4 years so I take tech over 200k mile reliability, but that's just me.

Top 2 selling vehicles (cars included) in Canada are ford f series and ram trucks. They are doing something right.

I don't think build location matters as many think it does, the same build process, checks, balances and QDR processes are done at both plants. My 16 was built in Mexico, it was on its 2nd differential, after some discussion with Toyota CS and the mention of lemon law, we came to the solution of helping facilitate a trade for a new truck, my 17.

As far as the longbed I've had 2 longbeds and always bought them based on the fact I prefer it when for hauling my MX bike to the track a couple times a month, but after a few years of it, I'm ready for a shorter smaller wheel base and decided to go with the SB OR this time and love it. It will still haul my bike the couple times a month I need it to.

Yes raptor's are expensive but so are Tacoma's. I also implore you to look at what your getting with even the base model raptor over say a TRD PRO Tacoma, content wise not the luxury items.

    Truck stuff
Every time I tell someone what my Taco cost they say why not just get a full size. Its common, It will never stop because Mid size truck prices have gone up. Once I tell them the reasons, they see my passion for the truck and my knowledge of the truck market and they only have one response "Oh that makes sense, it is a really nice truck". It also helps when I tell them my truck was built in Texas.

The thing I don't like about building fullsizes is things like bed liner cost more as an option when it comes standard on the tacomas. I get for the most part you are going to get more with the raptor since it's a fullsize.

There are literally like no options/equipment to get with the pro because it all comes with it.

Leather, power seats etc all cost more as options when you build a raptor as opposed by the pro when you get leather seats standard.

Sure you are getting way more with the raptor, but you are certainly paying more for it.

Compare a barbones stock trd pro to a barebones stock raptor and you are getting more with the pro...i feel atleast.

There are still areas of the US with that view?
Even in NYC, hipsters are looking for the most rugged old school trucks/suvs to go with their man-buns and flannel.

Dude the only thing you are getting on a TRD PRO over a 17 Raptor is leather seats, dual climate control and bsm.

Off road feature and capability wise the Raptor cleans up and puts the PRO to shame. MPG will be close with the new 10spd and ecoboost with shedding 500lbs from previous gen.

The Tacoma bed is composite, that's plastic bud, the new Raptor is aluminium it wont rust so you can scratch the shit out of it and for $500 spray in bed liner isn't that much.

If you can afford both, your money is better spent and more value, capability, etc. in the base raptor at $49k than the TRD Pro at $42k and for those that want to scream resale, check out used raptors.

I remember when I had my 93 supra some people would say to me why would you put so much into rebuilding a toyota.
Meanwhile after the 35K it cost to fully rebuild the engine and tune it (had it around 720 whp) was able to sell it for 50K, only cost me 10k with the blown motor so I made 5K on it and loved every minute of building that thing. Had insurance not quoted me 18k a year (lowest one I got) I would've kept it

No just what they cost using the colourful bills in my wallet.

43k would be 56k Canadian, so I guess we're getting a deal huh!?

I'll likely be in a Trd off road in 3 years when the 4Runner is paid off, IMO 13k (and tax on that 13k) is a lot more money for the pro and not worth it. My opinion of course.

As far as off road capability, what makes raptor better?

Mpg for the new raptor is 15/18, trd pro is 17/20.

Yes, I've heard the raptor dropped about 500 pounds. Aluminum costs more to repair though.
