Alright guys, I wanna see if anyone can help me out. I tried to install some Hella Sharptones (not Supertones) today, and after losing both of the original mounting bolts (they fell into the engine bay; who knows where they went), I finally got them mounted, but they sounded kinda ugly. Any ideas?

I mounted them where the stock ones were, and grounded them behind the mounting bolt. Used the stock harness for power. I assumed the stock horns were chassis ground style, so that's why I thought that would be an appropriate spot. They sounded (loudly), so they at least work. They're just not exactly right I don't think.

    Any help would be appreciated!

I messed with them some more and they seem to sound okay when I use the steering wheel switch, but they sound really weird when I lock/unlock the truck. Any thoughts on that?

Hellas have an interesting sound. It might just be that. Or you have a weak ground .

Yeah, the sound is definitely...interesting. But still okay. But when I lock/unlock the truck, it sounds plain bad. Like a kid's toy sorta.

On my truck (2015) there's a beep for locking and unlocking. On older trucks does it honk the horn? It may just be because they just get that little bit of juice sent to them and that's causing the weird, but normal sound.

The thought had crossed my mind. When I had the stock horns on there, the tone was the same but they were a bit quieter with lock/unlock. For now I just disabled the lock/unlock horn.

But yes, a lot of the older 2nd gens had horns instead of the beeps I believe.
