Just want a simple yes or no to this. Have a Gen1 SR5 Access Cab 4x4 with 239,000 miles on it. Been maintained at a top notch dealership from day 1 I bought it new. No Problemo with the rig. BUT! I just put down the card on a new 2017 Tacoma SR5 4x4 access cab (tow package)that's coming within a week.

Just saw that Consumer's Report (CR) 2017 video and online survey of this rig. A poultry 41!!!!!Bummed! I really don't care about cab noise nor ride as long I can put on 200K and get my value out of it. I've owned trucks for 50 years, and this rig that I have driven is like a Cadillac to my 67 Chevy short bed 4x4! And a bit better than my 2002 Gen1!

Based on reliability would you as 2017 Toyota Tacoma owners or others pull the trigger on this purchase..............Yes or No!

Could not find a Survey Page for this Forum. If there is one please kick my chronologically challenged ass and direct me!

Thank you Forum folks in advance to your response!

BTW...at my age 70, this will be the last rig I own!

P.S..................Yes, I have read and re-read all the 2017 threads!!!!!

I purchased a new 1987 Toyota Pickup, my first ever new vehicle, had many different used along with this truck. I thought I would never sell it. I maintained it myself and sold it with 203,500 miles, still running like new, but I wanted something a little larger and more comfortable. I too hope for the longevity the 87' gave me regardless of what I read prior. A 2017 Limited is what I purchased, my second ever new purchase. I am 58, this is supposed to be my retirement truck.
    I vote YES!
    Good luck...

Thank you for all the replies. Please keep 'em coming! So far very positive despite the CR Vidieo of the young man giving the report and rating. Doubt he's spent 150,000 miles on a logging road here in the PNW in a '97 Silverado 4x4 Access Cab?

Love mine have about 9k on it so far. My brother in law liked it so much he went and bought one too and loves it compared to his 97 Silverado

BTW I had a 2014 Tundra before this and the tacoma is such a nicer everyday truck

    Truck stuff
    Yes.

While the real reliability of the trucks engine and transmission is still completely unknown. I feel any engine that is properly maintained has the potential to last 250k+ miles. It does shift quite a bit but mine doesn't shift to excessively and it shifts smooth as butter.

Painted grill and rear bumper, Removed all badges and stickers, Tint, OME lift TRD wheels and BFGs on order.
YES.. Really like the access cab. Double cab is as long as my f250. Love the ride and drive experience. Shifts just fine. Some wind noise. Lots of plastic like the front grill. I can't see that making 25K mi. 6K on truck and would buy again. About to do a 2" lift with add a leaf. TRD wheels and BFG tire's will help a lot. Make it more like a real truck. Seat is good, Radio is terrible.
