Can I join? Will be coming up from SF
I'm not a complete rookie, but will be new to snow.
Running a stock 1st gen DC 4x4 with General Grabber HTS (highway tread?)
I have a receiver shackle and two OE hooks in the front, but that's it for recovery, waiting on the paycheck to order a strap.
I got one of the Baofeng, (the one you guys linked to) on the way, should be here tomorrow.

Yea buying them for their primary use of playing in the rocks and powder. They seem to suck just as bad as any other mud terrain in the ice

I live in Tahoe with ice on the ground months out of every year. I've had Hankook, procomp, BFG, and now Goodyear MT tires and the MTRs are the second worst only to BFGs in the ice.

Hankook Dynapro MTs hands down. They are a softer compound rubber. They wear faster but it made all the difference. And they stick like shit to a blanket in the rocks.

Like them more than an all terrain or duratracs for purely snow driving?

Hell no, but I don't want an all terrain for my toy that sees as much dirt driving as street driving. If I wanted a pure snow tire I would be running a second set of wheels with Blizzaks or Altimax Arctics. I have Blizzaks on the T4R right now even though it has Duratracs the rest of the year.

Im not sure if it is a good thing or not I'm going to say that I can show you same nice views and get you to a couple lakes if you want but I'm not saying that we would do it without getting a little lost (we might get lost)

Mine was eating it and I don't have seat covers... his wheels were locked and sliding backwards next to a steep drop. The slide was a lot faster than it looked in the video.

Andy 1 did fine with the STT Pros. Andy 2 did fine with the MTP's, but put one side of the wheels in dirt. I went too slow. 1st gear in 4LO with locker and ATRAC. Got 10 feet from the end, started slipping, and chattered my way to the finish line. 3rd gen (Ed) did fine. Not sure if he used crawl control. @theed

It's one thing to turn a group around on trail in dry conditions when you make a wrong turn or the trail is impassable. It is quite another to do it in the snow/ice.
