Don't think regular shops would have a issue

Sebastian made me a couple. He has the paint thread here in the az section. And I don't remember how much. Probably a buck or two. He doesn't really do it tho cause bob doesn't want people making them.

    1st gen guys...

Code 0442 and 0446. My buddy has been having these sporadic Evap codes for awhile now. He has replaced the gas cap already. going to check the lines this week, but we are thinking it just needs a new Charcoal Canister. Any of you done of these?

My 4runner is doing the same thing. Replaced gas cap, still throws CEL. Evap canister.

Edit: Haven't done anything with it....

It's the vsp box right behind the fuse box. In the service manual it tells you how to test each piece. Could be as simple as a vacuum line.

Mine was a cracked housing, thought about just epoxy it , but bought a new one. $350 from CBT with TW discount. That was by far the cheapest I could find anywhere.

If it turns out to be one of the relays, I have my old ones I'd sell.

If he's OBDII use the Torque app and clear the ECU codes right before you go in and test it. Literally do it in the parking log while you wait in line to pull into the testing place. Just test it out first to see how long the CEL stays off for. Sometimes they kick right back on, other times you can get a good 10-20 minutes before it shows back up. I was able to get the Civic and Acura RL to pass that way. If the CEL kicks on he won't loose anything but his time going to the emissions testing place.

    Worth a shot.

OBDII uses pending codes so clearing most likely won't help, the monitor has to be ready and passing to not fail. If you fail more than one ready monitor the test is a fail. At a certain year you can have 2 or more not ready and still pass, thats why some older cars were easier to clear codes and pass. Charcoal canisters usually get ruined from people filling up past the click, when you fill the extra click of gas it can get fuel into the canister and ruin it
