JUST PICKED UP MY '17 TRD OR 4x4 LB with JBL and tow package one week ago. In response to all the bashing of the 3rd generation I wanted to post my observations. The low end torque is not as responsive as my '11 was but the difference is negligible. Just needs a bit more throttle pressure. The 17 rides much more smoothly than my '11 due to the 6ft vs the 5 foot bed. It is also much quieter than the '11 was. I hear no differential howl and have had no transmission problems. The 6 speed AT is much better than the 6 speed AT was in a "10 Tundra I previously owned. It isn't a Porsche PDK but is pretty damn good. I only have 300 miles on it so I can't really comment on mileage. I averaged 17.6mpg on a 200 mile trip sunday but half of that was into a 20-30MPH headwind that died on the return trip. The JBL audio system is excellent. Better than the Bose systems in my wife's Macan and our 911. I don't particularly care for the Goodyear tires but they are better than I anticipated. I'm a Michelin LTX MS2 fan. All in al I am pleasantly surprised in the quality of the 17. If it has the same reliability that my '11 had, I won't regret buying it.

    Congrats on the purchase

Since you have 300 trouble free miles, I hope going forward your truck remains perfect

I too had a 2nd gen, the 3rd gen is a better truck- improved is the best way to describe it. I love my new 3rd gen. Good luck with yours, and by the way its Porsche PDK transmission not TDK.:D

Wait til you get some miles on it and open it up into the higher rpm range and hold on as those 300 horses kick in. Sounds amazing also. You won't believe it.

Take some time to learn how to drive it. Don't be afraid of ECT and S Mode. It will do what you want with decent mileage.
