Yeah, they're for sure the Sharptones. I went out of my way to find a pair of them instead of the Supertones after I read this thread over the summer. Hahaha.

Each horn has its own ground strap (from the horn to the OEM ground/mount), so not in series. What other ground connections in the engine bay would you suggest? I already have a few things tied to the one you used, so I don't want to make the "noise" issue or whatever it's called when you have too many connections on one ground bolt. Do you thing the horns could still be loud if the ground is bad, as mine are doing?

Thanks for the post! I found it the same day as BlackFriday. So I got a discount at SubiMods.

    Here are the results.

I ended up mounting it in the same location as my factory horns.

So I double checked everything this morning. Checked the ground with a multimeter, read good on both; isolated each horn, both sounded clear and loud. I guess that's just the pitch they're gonna have... Oh well.

Got them on Amazon, wayyyy cheaper. I'll paint them on my own flat black.

    Clarification please..

Did you cut off the factory plug off the factory horns and connect to the factory plug/harness

    OR..

Did you cut off the factory plug on the harness and wired them directly?

On a different note, I did leave mine the stock yellow. You can't hardly see them behind the early 2nd gen grille:

I don't think I would mind the stock yellow, even if it was visible.

Dude, you can get a Rivnut kit and tap anywhere you want and still be able to secure it. We use this in our race cars at work to mount shit all over the place.

This suggestion will go against Nittori's original idea of no drilling though.

Despite having a black on silver truck, I agree. I wouldn't have minded if I'd had a mesh grille and mounted them the way people do lights. Maybe I'd have painted them silver to match, but I wouldn't be upset with yellow, hence my laziness with this case. Haha.

They look great and are loud as anything. I'm just disappointed in the pitch of them.

^ I haven't heard the pitch of the Sharptones, but my last vehicle had Supertones and I was happy with them.
What about mixing a pair of BOTH??? You would have the lower and higher tones all together. Anyone??

Those that have them installed, do these sound right? Just want to be 100% sure I did the install right and that it really is just how they sound (ie, I'll just have to live with the tone and there's nothing I can do to fix it).

Your video is private. Kick it over to "unlisted" if you want us to be able to see it but not have it be a part of search listings.

Rivnuts are fine in my book, I just like making things 100% bolt-on for the sake of simplicity. Also a lot of people really fret about drilling holes, so a no-drill method is less stressful.

We have a 2016 Forrester...... the horn is kind of weak. I might upgrade if I can get one that doesn't sound like a loud sqeak that most of them sound like. I'll need to check out the Sharptones.

EDIT: Okay, now I think I actually fixed it. Sorry guys, never uploaded to YouTube/embedded before. I'm behind the times with tech.

Sounds a little raspy to me... here's mine. Maybe it's just your mic quality?
