After a Jeep Wrangler, two Nissan Frontier and a Ford Ranger...I really like my 2017 Tacoma. Much better ride than all the others. I really liked my Wrangler but there is simply no comparison!

Only had my 2017 Taco for a few days, but so far I'm incredibly impressed with the build quality and ride.

It's the first Toyota I've owned. I think anyone who is considering a midsize truck should have the Tacoma at the top of their list.

Zero issues. I have a 16 without the tranny TSB and have no r-d shift delay or anything. no flare. No howl. Nothing. Only thing I notice in a crosswind is the holes up front sometimes make a noise but I don't complain all day here like others do about it and try to get an extended warranty out of it. It's no biggie and wouldn't have known it unless I visited Tacoma whiners.

OP, go test drive a few and see if YOU like the truck. I know mine is a 16, but I would still get this truck again in a do-over, and this is my first new vehicle ever. Sure, it's had a few minor issues, but I don't think the reliability will be an issue. I tend to keep my cars forever. I love this truck, and I plan to get 1 million miles out of this ride!!!

^what he said. I love mine, had it about 6 weeks and 1200ish miles. The advice about test driving as many as you can is key though. I test drove maybe 6 or 7 in various trim levels, cab configurations and transmission types. I test drove one OR double cab w a manual transmission (same model and tranny as what I have now) that had the driveline vibe and very harsh shifting. So shitty that I considered writing off a 3rd gen in general and trying to get a lightly used 2nd gen. Test drove another 3rd gen couple months later and it was an entirely different experience, so much so that I hammered out numbers and bought it that day. Wasn't my first choice in color but I couldn't pass up how smooth it all was.

P.S. How's that for a "simple yes or no"?

You can't go wrong with a Tacoma. It's a great truck and there's a reason why it is the best selling mid size.

Yea Skidog, I can see this as a problem with the miss'us too. She already has problems getting into my Gen1. The new single grated step as an add on is probably in my future when I get the truck.

I have driven the new ones in several trims including the 2.5L. For the MPH, cost difference and lack of a tow package for the 2.5L I drove, didn't seem a good way to go. The 3.5L with a tow cap of 6,400 pounds is impressive! My boat and trailer only weighs 3K.

A big thank you again for all your responses. You made me feel better about my doubts after that CR video. Oh yea, thank you for whoever posted the survey. I appreciate it. Where do I find the link on that? Must have missed it?

In my opinion, the older Tacos are better. I have a 1994 and a 2004, both 4WD Ext Cab, both manuals. I don't know why Toyota does not bring these models back, I have never heard any one say a bad thing about them. They run forever and can take a beating!

Because more families are using a truck for DD

That's why they don't sell standard cabs anymore

Also with the trucks and double cab replacing family cars people want all the luxuries like nav and seat heaters etc and leather

We can all reminisce about the good ole days but Toyota marketing knows what sells. They make what sells , luxury $35k tacomas with all gadgets

I say bring back the old style for a test. I bet Toyota will find a market for them, don't make a ton of them like the PRO but they sell like hotcakes! Sign me up for one! LOL

They don't make regular cabs anymore because of government regulations. Only holds 2 people and gets bad milage compared to a car for it's weight.

I have 1k miles on my '17. It's a fantastic truck and it feels very solidly built. Even though there has been many reports of reliability issues on the '16, I don't see nearly as much negativity surrounding the '17. Plus TSB's and various fixes are now more readily available since the trucks have been around a year.

I have not noticed a single problem on my '17. It is my favorite vehicle I've ever owned so far. I'm very confident that the reliability will hold up long term, just like the previous gens. If you're in the mid-size truck market, the Tacoma should be at the top of your list, if not the only truck on your list if you're looking to put 200K+ miles on it.

I will admit i have not done the research on this yet> but can the 2017 TRD OR wheels be used on a 2017 TRD Sport? I ask because i have the opportunity to have the TRD OR wheels.
