Just got back home from the VA Ortho appt , according to the Chief of Ortho he doesn't think Surgery is an option at this time . Also not concerned over knee implant loosening even though it shows on bone scans

Also mentioned possible atrophy in quads and hip are the issue and want to concentrate on leg strengthening . Surgery is still possible but wants to wait it out as I'm a scar tissue factory and currently have adhesions on my quad muscles

The surgery if needed would be to remove the knee capsule to gain more ROM

Yeah rough long morning. But ended up with a new Interstate Battery 800 CCA was the biggest they had without installing a new tray. I tried to talk the guy into it and he said sir do you realize how cold it is outside. Well that was my point exactly LOL but the 800 should get me through the teens and twenties below headed here in a few days. When I was downtown also picked up a new Stormy Kromer wool vest so life is good again :)

There is nothing like well worn Filson with duct tape to tell the Orvis crowd no need to apply for membership :D

That is a quote from the Admiral I hunt with in SD a few years ago. We pulled into hunt a section (1 sq. mile) and across the road was a dude ranch where the rich pay $1200 to hunt for 3 days and a lot of the birds are pen raised and released. There was a group of guys standing there really close to us on the other side of the rode. They all looked like they walked out of an Orvis catalog and think some still had tags on them. We got out of the trucks and in half a minute without saying a word and using hand gestures had the dogs out and were starting to hunt. The guys at the dude ranch were like gawd damn, look at them, wow, etc. We all had beat up hunting clothes that have seen a lot of miles and better days. The quote is what Steve said to me when he came over and whispered to me. Wild phez are spooky and can hear a long ways off.

Only 16 to Brevard for me, 17 to Asheville. Haven't been back in a long time and about tempted...

Good luck! I took a friend to buy a rod at his shop in Middletown Pa. in the mid, late 80's. Used to be an empty lot across the street and he took a cheap Cortland rod and was into his backing on the second cast and then shot yards of that out on his third cast. With a cigarette in his hand and no effort. Told me that for 95% of the people out there a Cortland is fine. For the other 5% there is Sage. Couldn't help and wonder what he could have done with a Sage instead. I will never earn any style points in my casting skills LOL. I can usually get the job done but it may not be pretty ;)

Yep I wasn't happy and kept telling the doctor that the pain is really bothering me . This Surgical Resident was told by the Chief of Ortho to try at home physical therapy to see if this lessens the pain

Even though my next Ortho appt is not until May 2017 I was told if the pain is not better to schedule an earlier appt

The Chief of Ortho mentioned that they've been in my knee 3x's already and any more surgeries increase the risk of infection . They mentioned opening up the knee capsule or removing it to allow the prosthesis more movement is an option . They're baffled why I'm in pain but all tests performed are not showing why

The only test so far is the Bone scan showing looseness of the tibia plate but the chief of Ortho mentioned in only 2 yrs out from the knee replacement and is not concerned

That's about the same distance no worries just have to plan ahead for it . Whatever works for those that would be interested in doing it. Obviously some will have to drive further then others just pick a happy medium from the northern/southern/western people.
