ADD and transfer case actuator service?

How many of you have "serviced" your ADD and transfer case actuator?

I think this just consists of opening them up and cleaning / greasing them? what grease did you use?

Did it help with shifting into / out of 4hi / lo ?

Are they essentially the same thing?

It looks like the ADD is pretty easy to remove, how about the t-case actuator?

I haven't crawled under there to look myself yet, but having difficulty getting into and out of 4x4 and this seems to be a common area of dried up grease and things sticking that shouldn't.

EDIT: I know the manual states not to open these, but it seems some simple preventative maintenance would do them some good considering what people are finding when opening them.

 

tcase is super easy to get to (i havnt removed it but its RIGHT there with no obstructions)

Front ADD.... thats probably more of a pain in the ass though.

Id clean em out, grease em up and while i was there solder the motor leads so its not just a pressure connection.

 

Wasn't completely sure what you meant by soldering the motor leads, just spent an hour reading this thread lots of good info here for people with 4wd problems:

I just Remember reading a couple threads that said it was not serviceable and if it was faulty the protocol is just replace it. Sorry I can't be more help.

 

I am still desperately searching for IF I CAN REMOVE TF Actuator?? I took out the bolts, it pulls out an inch and stops... I can never find the information when I need it the most....

More than likely, I'm headed outside, in the dark, to ruin something else...
